Really looking forward to Tinordi and Subban laying on the thunderous hits!SKYO wrote:4pm - The classic rivalry leaves vs Canadiens! cbc

Then there's Parros, Moen, Prust...
Looks like the Canadiens will be tougher than the Leaves tonight!
Obviously Orr will fight tonight, hopefully someone sucks Dion into dropping the gloves.
(or Kessel into swinging his purse)
Ashton + Bodie are in the lineup representing the depth of the Leaves.
Some say Bodie is only there because he married Leaf head honcho Leiweke.

Tinordi gettin' lucky with Murray injured, he's gonna get a lot more ice time!

Take out fighting and you'll lose half of the 10,000 fans who barely manage to sustain their US franchises as it is, despite 10 dollar tickets.

Re: Around the League
Fighting plays a big role in terms of player psyche a decision making. It can be an intimidation factor (similar to hitting) that can alter your opponents decisions on the ice. There's no way it should be taken out of the game all together, but I agree that staged fights are losing their place (or are at least something the NHL could focus on)...SKYO wrote:Steve Yzerman and Scotty Bowman want fighting banned. smh
A few Canucks weigh in on fighting...
Torts: "It's a game that has body contact and conflict happens. I think fighting will always be part of the game." "I think we've gone a little bit too far with staged fighting. I don't think there is any need for that."
Bieksa: "It is not going anywhere. It will always be part of the game." "We'll play with a tennis ball before we take fighting out of the game."
Weise: "Fighting is always going to have a place in the game. I think staged fights in my opinion are kind of ridiculous."
Sestito: "If you don't have fighting in the game, there are going to be a lot of dirty hits. I think it polices the game."

TSN headline:
Secondly, who the fuck was so naive about the dangers of huge men hurling bare fists at each other's faces that this incident will make them change their minds about it?
LOFL. First of all, when does a fight-ending KO "mute excitement"? It wasn't Sid the Kid leaving in a stretcher.Much of the excitement of the NHL's opening night was muted on Tuesday when Montreal Canadiens forward George Parros was taken off the Bell Centre ice on a stretcher after engaging in a fight with Maple leaves forward Colton Orr. But the injury re-opens a familiar question for hockey fans: does the incident in Montreal change your feelings about fighting in hockey?

Bernier was brilliant last night. How great is it to have Bernier and Reimer at the same time and same age? leaves are set for years.
