Re: Canucks News and Notes
The Glass Half Empty Crystal Ball - Horvat and Corrado and Mallet will end up being the only three serviceable prospects of this current crop of prospects.
Shinkarurk - too skinny and short
Gaunce - Dana Murzyn skating
Jensen - one trick pony
Schroeder - A Midget with not enough Brenden Gallagher bite
the rest ain't even worth talking about

Not sure if people saw this but Mason Raymond is being given a try-out opportunity with the Leafs.

Wtf? is this a stab at Kadri, cuz they are broke? I'd still take MayRay for $1.5 mil. He's productive, and can play 2nd line with uswafflecombine wrote:Not sure if people saw this but Mason Raymond is being given a try-out opportunity with the Leafs.

Re: Canucks News and Notes
I would keep Raymond for 1.5 as well, except, if he stays, they the slot is gone... Now who are we not bringing up and developing??
Raymond had to go to make room for new blood.

I keep hearing people talk about "new blood" and giving the "kids a chance", but I dont see any new top9 players nor any kids who look ready to play.
What I see is the same group of forwards as last year (minus Raymond) and some deck shuffling on the 4th line.
Re: Canucks News and Notes
I disagree. We need a few more depth guys. Capgeek shows us as having 12 forwards (including Schroeder), plus prospects. Bo/Gaunce/Hunter/etc can't be relied on to step up too far once we have a few injuries. MayRay is a good depth guy at a reasonable price, and typically gets about 40 points a season. Damned good for a softy. If he was 30 lbs heavier, he'd be getting closer to $4mil.Madcombinepilot wrote:I would keep Raymond for 1.5 as well, except, if he stays, they the slot is gone... I guess the question is "if not Mayray, then who?" We have a good top 9, but a real lack of depth this year after that. And, that is an injury or 2 away from a disaster.

....
Well gee, Pot, I guess that's all you see because its still before training camp??
My point was that if we are to get ANY new blood (and I mean prospects that are developing), we need to have a roster spot for them to play. With Raymond still here, there is no spots for young kids to even compete for. Traditionally, young players that develop with a team (kids like the Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, Linden, etc) they start on the third line. Our third line was full. Now there is a spot.

Re: Canucks News and Notes
There are actually two spots for the young guys to compete for, the third/fourth line centre and the fourth line left winger.Madcombinepilot wrote: ....

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Burrows Kesler Booth
Higgins XXX Hansen
XXX Richardson Weise
Sestito
Third/fourth line centre: Santorelli, Schroeder, Gaunce, Lain, or Horvat (not likely)
Fourth line winger: Sestito, Ferriero, Mallet, Archibald, or Jensen (most likely move up to the third)
Re: Canucks News and Notes
I can't wait to watch booth run into things as he tries to skate with the puck like its a grenade

Pot is only repeating what GMMG told the season's ticket holders in the open meeting over a month ago. The lineup is full. look for a Utica shuttle filling out the roster.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I think you're just bitter because your boy Raymond couldn't even get a minimum contract.Topper wrote:Pot is only repeating what GMMG told the season's ticket holders in the open meeting over a month ago. The lineup is full. look for a Utica shuttle filling out the roster.
Oh well

And the line up isnt full, there is a "gaping" hole a center, who fills it?

Re: Canucks News and Notes
I can't believe we're still talking about bloody Mason Raymond. He's constantly toppling over, does nothing for the toughness/attitude factor, and is the complete polar opposite of a clutch goal scorer. Who cares how many points he may score; no-one else is picking him up! Good riddance!
