Young Stars Tournament and Related Musings

Post by nuckster »

My gal took me out for some sushi-supper this evening (Penticton) and while having an after dinner stroll along the waterfront, we cut through the Lakeside Hotel (she had to go to the can) and lo and behold, in the hotel lobby was a face from the past! So I asked the dude, is your first name Dan? An sure as shit it was. So who would you figure is a canuck player from the past whose name is Dan whose face is unmistakable? He still looked the same too. So here's a hint: while conversing, I commented that I wondered if he still has nightmares about the Minnesota series in the days of Crawford as coach? He smiled and indicated that there's ups and downs along the way and.... well i kicked him in the fuckin knee before he could say anything else and yelled - "You stupid muther-fucker!" then ran like a son-of-a-bitch. Ok Ok.. it didn't quite go like that. Truth is, I wondered inside how do ya shake a legacy like that? He said he was there for the Young Stars tournament ....and you know in what capacity? To work with the goal-tenders. Now I didn't ask him for which team exactly... so some of you might be breathing a little easier lol Truth was, he came across like a really nice guy. Poor ole Dan Cloutier - Cloots

On another note, I'm curious, anyone here planning on attending the Young Stars tournament this weekend? It's pretty fortunate to have this taking place where I live in Penticton so I opted to get a seat ($12.00) for the Oilers-Nucks game (seriously $12.00). No doubt some of you will be there so say hello, I will be the guy in the beer garden with a canucks t-shirt on... gawd.

When looking at the line-ups it appears as though the Flames game with the Nucks might be more interesting since they have a whole slew of first round picks in the roster. We'll see. Anyways, I thought some of you might like to see anew thread that doesn't go on in an unmerciless manner about Luongo's dick vs Schneider's...jeeese.

Thanks Nuckster. No disrespect to the guys posting lately, but the to-and-fro lately on Luongo, Gillis, Schneider, Giguere, blah, blah, blah... was getting tiresome.

Dog days of summer, indeed.

At least we have some pre-pre-season action to talk about.

PS - good thing you didn't ask him about the Detroit series and the Lidstrom goal!!!
Love the Sport. Love the Team.

Hate the League.

Well put! I didn't mean any disrespect to any previous posters...
I recall that Cloots had a bit of a temper and as nice as he was this evening, ya could just imagine the risk one would be taking to rub the Lidstrom center ice goal in his face. I remember watching that - a tsn turning point for sure- the Canucks were up two games to 0 and that goal started the turn of the tide.

Seems like like it was a long hockey-less summer

Amen brother.

Sometimes I forget these guys are human and not a machine, I like DC but at the time we would of had a better chance of wining the cup with a better goalie. The only problem was we had a GM who would not make the trades needed to win the cup.

I don't think MG is the same, he has some hindrance in the cap situation and a contract signed before the latest CBA.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

What a goal by Horvat!! Eriksson looks shaky...

The Canucks are really lacking a blue chip defenseman. :?

Horvat top corner from in close

Subban too cute with it and sets up his d partner with a suicide pass

Erickson not great on the SJS goal

Shinkaruk cross checked a guy outta the game

Horvat walks around another d-man to start the 2nd

Horvat has been the best player for both teams so far.

Ericksen terrible at handling the puck

Mallet with a good hit and then goes overboard with a crosscheck to the head

Subban draws an elbowing penalty because he's tiny

Jensen has been pretty much invisible for the first two periods. Just one chance and he scored a beauty. :)
