Seriously?
No.
But then as they say "Truest things are said in jest".
Any two of Grigorenko, Grabovski, Ennis are just as capable of holding down the top two centre positions
(just as capable as any two of Grigorenko, Ennis, Hodgson).
Ott is definitely a better 3rd line centre than Hodgson.
Porter is a better 4th line centre than Hodgson.
You get the idea...
And hey, ALL of those guys are able to slide over to the wing if needs-be!
ALL except for Cody Hodgson of course.
Hodgson is a top 2 centre or bust kinda guy who doesn't have a clue how to play defense.
Like most who played in the AHL during the lockout, Cody got off to a great start in the shortened season.
But halfway through that 48 game season Silent G wilted like a pussy-willow at high-tide
(not sure if that makes any sense, but I liked the way it sounded).
All Hodgson has proven so far is that he can put up points if he is given a head-start
... along with prime ice-time on a don't-worry-about-defense line of Vanek + Pomminville.
I read that Ruff also tried to get Ehrhoff on the ice with that line as much as possible...
Result after one month: Hodgson at close to a point-per-game clip, Ruff fired.
Anyway, point is the Sabres can nicely get by without Holdout Hodgson, especially if they sign Grabby.
Point is Cody + Mommy + Daddy don't have as strong a bargaining position as they would no-doubt like to think.
