Re: 2013 FA Thread
Emery will be back in Philly it appears with a cheap one year contract.
Flyers back to their old goalie ways.
And Islanders re-sign Evgeni Nabokov, one year, 3.25M per Arthur Staple

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: 2013 FA Thread
Andrew Ference signs with Edmonton. 4 year, $3.25M AAV.

Re: 2013 FA Thread
I’d take a shot at Grabovski if he’s interested in a $3.5Mish contract. A skilled centre is just what this team needs. He could slot in on the second or third line, and add that versatility that bringing in a checking centre won’t.
Re: 2013 FA Thread
I’m totally shocked that Alfredsson left Ottawa…Murray must’ve seriously low balled him.
WTF are the leaves doing buying out Grabovski and then not immediately coming to terms with Bozak?

Re: 2013 FA Thread
I have a feeling Murray & Co. tried to low-ball Alfredsson so they could make a splash on another Fa (ie-Clarkson). This is likely Alfredsson's last contract, so I don't think he was interested in that big of a haircut.herb wrote:I’m totally shocked that Alfredsson left Ottawa…Murray must’ve seriously low balled him.

As for Grabo/Bozak, I have a feeling Bozak wants to see just how much he can make now that he's been showcased as a #1C. Meanwhile, Toronto's no doubt trying to keep enough space clear to make their own FA splash (ie-Clarkson... man is he in for a payday)

They can have him. WAAAAY overpaid for a 34 year-old Dman who's never scored more than 6 goals as a pro and whose +/- ain't all that.SKYO wrote:Andrew Ference signs with Edmonton. 4 year, $3.25M AAV.
But he gets to go home...
Yup, Edmonton is just THE destination for FAs.

The amount is okay, but 4 years is ridiculous.Lancer wrote: They can have him. WAAAAY overpaid for a 34 year-old Dman who's never scored more than 6 goals as a pro and whose +/- ain't all that.
At $5.5 million you'd think Ottawa could make it work. But apparently Melnyk is going broke so that may be why.herb wrote:I’m totally shocked that Alfredsson left Ottawa…Murray must’ve seriously low balled him.
Re: 2013 FA Thread
Alfredsson is a strange place for the Sens to cheap out on, and it’s not like $5.5M is a ridiculous amount. They have like $20+M in cap space to boot…Lancer wrote:I have a feeling Murray & Co. tried to low-ball Alfredsson so they could make a splash on another Fa (ie-Clarkson). I have a feeling the leaves messed up on Grabo (hehe). Sure he was overpaid, but he was their best centre, and they will either lose Bozak or need to pony up large. It looks like they might lose MacArthur as well, and only *might* be able to lure an overpaid UFA or two…strange management strategy IMO.

A lot of guys in our price range getting snapped up right now.
I wonder if today is going to be a day that we feel as though the boat was missed, again...

Where did Gordon go? Not tracking that one, though I saw Edmonton was trying to sign him.donlever wrote:...would have liked to see Boyd Gordon here.
