Sometimes I think every move Gillis makes... or doesn't make.... is designed to push RD over the edge.

Perhaps he has read his posts and is simply out to get the Dude.

Thoughts?

In another attempt to win over RD, GMMG has placed Ballard on waivers.

They are apparently conventional waivers to see if another team will take him, not the unconditional waivers required for a buyout.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: VAN's Keith Ballard is on conventional waivers. Not $100 unconditional waivers, which is necessary for buyout purposes.

ha lets hope he gets taken as he and his agent sounded like they really wanted out lol.

And it appears Weise is close to re-signing here. :?
@News1130Sports
The Canucks and Weise are very close to signing a contract extension. Very positive talks.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

On 48-hr unconditional waivers they'd hafta buy him out if no one picked him up.

On 24-hr conventional waivers they don't hafta buy him out if no one picked him up.

After the 24-hrs has past (if no one claims him) they can place him on unconditional waivers.

They still have time to put him on 48-hr unconditional waivers before the window closes.

He's gone either way. Would be a miracle if some team claims him, but either way Ballard will not be on the team next year. Too bad, he was a good player at one point but for some reason didn't fit in here at all.

So it seems that the Canucks have qualified RFAs Tanev, Weise, and Schroeder...

I wonder if they will qualify any of the other RFAs:

Derek Joslin
Yann Sauve
Bill Sweatt
Anton Rodin
Darren Archibald
Kellan Lain (what, already?)
Stefan Schneider
Prab Rai

I think that Sauve, Sweatt, Schneider, and Rai are unlikely to receive qualifying offers - but maybe Lain, Archibald, Rodin, and Joslin will be retained?

I believe Rodin has already signed back in Sweden so there may not be much point one way or the other.

As for Lain, Gillis has talked about him having a shot to make the team if I'm not mistaken so you'd have to think a QO and eventual extension are only a matter of time.

Can't let everyone walk with a farm team to stock but most of those guys can be replaced pretty easily.

My guess is they qualify Joslin, Archibald and Lain for sure (they knew they'd have to qualify Lain when they signed him and I can't imagine they signed him and will give up on him a handful of pro games later). I wouldn't be shocked to see Sweatt qualified as well as he is a decent AHL guy.

Prab Rai will get snapped up if they don't qualify him.

He has been fucked around in this organization from day 1. Kid just needs a chance.

First part shows great timing and sense of humour. Strombone-like.

Second part shows it wasn't in fact humour but it does validates his lack of awareness and douche-baggery.

Kyle Hope will be attending the canucks prospects camp. Interestingly, he attended the Rangers camp last summer under Torts.

Hard nosed D-man turned winger.
