Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
Sign them to 1-2 year deals commensurate with their performance next year. If they move back into top 10 scoring, it'll be 5-6 mill range (depending on discount), lower then 4-5 mill range. Scoring talent does not grow on trees. Even if Canucks are going through re-set phase they'll be important for keeping the team competitive as the next gen (Kass, Jensen, Gaunce etc) moves into the fold. No more than a 2 year deal would seem to work for both sides.
Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
The difference is these dimwits would rather let the Sedins walk, be awful and have zero chance at the cup over the next five or more years than keep the Sedins around, have a competitive team and try to build a cup winner. Mediocre teams have a better chance at winning the cup than terrible ones.dbr wrote:The rallying cry of the half-wit.The_Pauser wrote:For some people like you maybe mediocrity is acceptable. I love the stat cherry picking when somebody points out the Sedins actually pretty good playoff stats…”but…but if you take out this series their stats suck!1!”
The Sedins should and will be re-signed by the Canucks. Two years and $10M each would be more than fair. If they want to go year to year, as has been rumoured, all the better.
Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
Sign the Sedins...you can't go out and buy their production in the free market.
How long do we have them for? Depends upon if they have an interest in returning to Sweden to finish their careers and how they get along with the new coach. I'm a bit nervous; the last time we had a kick ass coach (Keenan), he stripped Trevor Linden of the captaincy and ran him out of town. Don't want to see than happen to Hank and Danny.

Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
This team with the Sedins as the focal point of the offense will not win a Cup. I'd much rather blow it up now and do a rebuild than waste the next 5 years being disappointed annually because the Sedins didn't show up, and having to suffer listening to people explain that if our 4th line was better we would win the Cup. It's time to move on.
Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
Yeah, fuck it.
Let's just suck balls for half a decade, then scratch and claw our way back into the playoffs, then maybe hopefully back to where the team is now so that we can try to build on that.
All so we can get our second and third lines more offensive zone starts and improve the fabricated individual stats (unique points
) of our forwards.

Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
If I knew for an absolute, certain fact that the Canucks with the Sedins could never win the cup, I sure as hell wouldn’t be getting my hopes up each year only to have them crushed like I knew would happen.
It is not time to move on. They are legitimate first line players, who will be incredibly hard to replace. We may not have two first line players of their talent for the next 5, 10 or 15 years. They have kept themselves in great shape, have been incredibly durable and are tremendously loyal to the Vancouver Canucks (for some reason that is beyond my comprehension). We hold on to these guys for as long as we can, and until they are no longer able or willing to contribute at the NHL level. .

Hey, I got you to log in for the first time in months!
As an aside, have you ever typed a post longer than seven words? This isn't twitter.
Actually it's probably for the best you keep them short. Brevity is a virtue when you're a known and established dipshit.

Re: Re-sign the Sedins thread
Ummmm, John-ster, ya may want to back out of this one considering you're...ahem...
...nevermind
IF the Sedins are content to sign year by year as they have reportedly said...
IF they are signed for a discount...
IF Gillis finally brings in some balls...
and IF Torterella splits them up...
Then I am changing my vote.
But...
IF I have to watch more twin pussy-ness and wimping out...
Then I'm coming back here to change my vote again.
Just in case y'all were worried.

Yeah I'd re-sign them for 4 mill each, contingent on next year's playoffs. I think that's a reasonable amount for one-dimensional second line players, which is probably what they'll be in a couple years . If they get back to 90+ points production then I'd obviously offer more. But they won't.
What has me worried about the Sharks series is that it's the first time they looked legit scared out there. They were dishing off the puck and usually turning it over the second they entered the Sharks' zone in an attempt to avoid the hit. And when they did battle along the wall they lost that battle most of the time.
We'll see how things go next year...
