By the by, Andrew Ference is smaller than everyone on the Canucks blueline except Keith Ballard and lighter than everyone except Chris Tanev..
It will at least make for an interesting training camp - if we needed more plotlines as it is.
As for Ference, it's not the size of the dog in the fight...
That said, Mondi, I think when Corrado gets some confidence and experience at the NHL level I think we'll see more sandpaper to his game. The kid has some size for his age and isn't afraid of the rough stuff from what I saw of him in the OHL. Ballard's likely gone, but he gave as well as he got and wasn't afraid out there. Throw in AA - who had a better season this year and wouldn't worry me on the bottom pairing, and things don't look quite so apocalyptically soft on the blueline.
I don't think the blueline is necessarily a bunch of euro-poofties as some would suggest, we just need a big Darth Vader-type who will make it painful for opposition forwards in the Canucks' zone. I would even live with whatever defensive miscues such a guy would make if only for the intimidation factor. It's not like we have to break the bank for one of those guys you want. It's just too bad Bryan Allen signed in Anaheim, because he's just the kind of guy the team could use on the bottom two pairings.
Love the Sport. Love the Team.
Hate the League. Live from Riga, bitches...
