Good movie but I didn't really get the whole Spock beating up Kahn thing. They basically make Kahn into this super human tough guy, then Spock kicks his ass.
Thought that was a little wierd.
But very cool to see them introducing back story for the old movies.

Could happen.

A ship that can operate in interstellar space should easily double as a submersible.

Loved Star Trek. JJ Lens Flare Abrams has really nailed it with this reboot of what is literally an iconic line of fiction in American Sci-Fi history. Brilliant.
Beyond here are Spoilers. Beware.
I was surprised to see Greenwood's character get killed, though when the demoted Jimmy you knew something had to happen to put him back in the Captain's chair, I'm just glad it wasn't something lame, Pike dying wasn't lame. Bruce Greenwood is a truly underrated actor.
I really like some of the changes that Abram has made to the overall science and tech side of things. Some of it probably pisses off some of the Trek purists out there, but I don't mind it at all.
The way they pay tribute to the old movies and twist things around is very well done. I like how they have embraced this alternate reality story, it makes this seem like less of a reboot/re-imagining of something just because special effects and modern CG can make it better, and more of an altogether new chapter.
I loved Leonard Nimoy's cameo in this one.
The Klingons looked friggen awesome.
Did not see this Harrison guy actually being Khan. It was pure denials and then I just assumed he was some minion of Khan's trying to find his master. Good little twist.
The Wrath of Khan reversal at the end was a nice touch, the solidifying of a friendship was well done at that point, they way they avoided having to Title a sequel, Star Trek Quest For Kirk, was sadly predictable. "KHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!" Was campy and unnecessary.
The chase scene at the end was pretty good, and I really liked how Spock was getting tossed around until he loses his shit and goes all Pon Farr on Khan's ass. It was believable if you know anything about Star Trek lore and also because Khan had just been stunned half a dozen times by Uhura.
After that scene it felt like they rushed to the end and a year of time flew by in about a minute forty-five.
Overall it was, IMO, as good as the first one. I think it suffered from the typical sequel syndrome that so many follow-ups to successful movies endure. I write that off to the hype surrounding and overly picky fan boys that have this idea in their head and aren't happy because they know how it "should have happened", and what JJ Abrams "should have done".
Next up.....Man of Steel. If the trailers, TV spots, and soundtrack bytes they just released, are anything to go by, this is going to be an EPIC movie that finally does Superman justice.

Re: Summer Movies...what are you gonna see?
The only thing lacking in the 2nd Star Trek from the first was the fun of watching the crew get assembled.
I've never enjoyed the other Superman movies. Let's hope they don't fuck this one up too.

Interested to see World War Z. Read the book a few years back.

Twas stupid that they would deem it necessary when they are worried about breaking the prime directive...
"Hope the indigenous people don't see my face... but i'm sure they wont notice a huge spacecraft ascend into the water..."
Other than that thought twas a good movie.
