The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

roddy is not playing last couple years, busy with the family/coaching the boy. However I did get interest in the canadians this year from him..he is too good to just quit. He calls me cowboy and I stay in his head without pressure just like a blade of grass through concrete..
Yeah guy can fucking play. We picked him up to play fastball for a couple years. His buddies played on our team? Do you know Jason Derlago? Another great hardball/fastball player.

Uhhhh they're all corrupt. The Liberals just have a kunthairs more business sense on how to actually run the province and don't feel the need to tax the common man up the ass and run a severely bloated govt.

Well you said a mouthful there (of cunthairs?! ) Blobber, they are all corrupt.
It's time to shake up the system instead of settling for shyte....Single Transferable Vote System;
UBC conducted a research project during this election where you could vote (online) based on FPTP, STV and PR for your riding. It wasn't well known, so they probably got about 1,000 responses in total. Of those three, STV would be best. The one that's missing that should be included is AV (which, by the way, Toronto City Council is considering this month for municipal elections to replace FPTP).
AV (alternative vote): like STV you mark 1,2,3. Unlike STV you still have single member ridings. Last place has their votes for "2" assigned — repeat until someone has 50%+1. This is how parties elect their leaders.
Here's the good news: Vancouver-Point Grey turfed Christy Clark herself. Negativity & free lunch put the Liberals back in power...
I blame the 48% turnout of registered voters for the NDP landslide, I seen a lot of chatter from the younger folks/kids on twitter 'hockey fans mostly' etc saying stupid shit like "Am I the only one who doesn't care for the election?"
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
ukcanuck wrote:The trouble it seems is the answer to the lie that business will flee in droves if governments spend money on healthcare and education is too complicated to put into the sound bites that people like Mëds can understand.
Christie Clark has proved yet again fear sells.
It's no the spending that causes the businesses to flee. It's the NDP's track record of hiking taxes and making big business more expensive to operate. There would be more than a few head offices relocating east if the NDP had gotten in. Not because they care about more money in education and healthcare, but because they don't want to have the government taking a bigger piece of their pie.
I know you have difficulty understanding things like fiscal responsibility and deficit spending.....

Turnout was actually 52%, which was higher than the last election.
This is the heart of the liberal's lie, its a common misconception propagated by the right and nicely ignored (topper) by those in the resource industry who want a friendly government to allow unfettered money making.
Read and weep while you digest the fact BC's economy was directly affected and effected by the following events....
I completely understand why someone in the resource sector would vote for and be happy with a right of centre government.
But I laugh at the great unwashed who buy the lies and who will not benefit further than a Walmart apron or coffee shop job from a liberal government
Not to mention a guy who quite happily would vote for a government who would love to force him to leave the province for work while they replace him with an undertrained Minimum wage worker.
Check out wages for a fully trained (privately paid) EMT in a UK city where average house prices are in the millions and a 25 % down payment is required
Go live in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and see what socialist governments have done to their countries. Financial crisis after crisis. For every $ spent by governments someone who actually works has to pay for it. Socialists do not understand how wealth is created. Read some Adam Smith FFS.

Who's talking about socialism?
That's just a red herring. Its not about stealing from the rich to give to the poor or a redistribution of wealth. all we are talking about here is a reasonable investment in people so basic health, welfare and education needs are met by the wealth generated from GDP and crown resources.
look at education in BC. Since Gordo education investment has flatlined.. The recent budget allows for a 1% increase I believe... Yet since 2000 technology has completely
Rewritten the book on educating the young. Smart phones alone has changed the landscape never mind all the changes in resources from soup to nuts...
Do you think a BC classroom or highschool compares favourably to world class standards after being starved for money for the last dozen years ??
Seriously ?

So on average they slot in nicely between a skilled trade worker and an associate professional when it comes to average earnings. Ironically they make more than what registered nurse starts at.....
This was as of 2010. So it could have changed by now.
I'm a little confused though, are you trying to say that people make less in the UK than they do in Canada to do the same job? Are you trying to say that the cost of living is more in the United Kingdom?
I'm just seeking some clarification because if seems to me like you are stating the obvious.....and generally speaking you have a very hard time grasping that.

Edit: my figures are in pounds sterling about 1.5 to 1 dollar.
The point is privatization, a Maggie thatcher iniative copied by North American right wingers, drives professional and skilled wages down so that middle class people such as yourself can barely make ends meet. you and your wife's wages would not qualify you for a mortgage without government assistance in the UK.
Public service jobs in a right wing economy cannot pay livable wages because taxes are kept artificially low.
