Playoffs...2013

Re: Playoffs...2013
Statiscially speaking we will be playing LA, St Louis, San Jose or Minnesota. Right now it's looking like it will be San Jose, which would be a favourable match-up in my opinion. Minnesota would be fantastic, but the odds are pretty slim as they would need to win their last two games and St Louis would need to get zero points in their last two games.
Honestly though, unless we got Minny, I don't think it really matters a whole lot. If I got to choose between LA, St Louis and San Jose I would pick San Jose for sure.

Actually, we play the Wild if St. Louis gets 2 points or more (they play Calgary tonight), Minnesota wins their two remaining games (Col and Edm), and LA wins at home (in regulation) against San Jose. Minnesota would slide past SJ into 6th based on ROW. All of those outcomes seem pretty likely, so scoreboard watching should be fun for the next few nights.herb wrote: Minnesota would be fantastic, but the odds are pretty slim as they would need to win their last two games and St Louis would need to get zero points in their last two games.

I'd like to see us get St Loo. Go right for the best available competition. If you really think your team can go all the way it has to go through the best clubs to get there. Beating a good team like the Blues can fire a team up and they'll learn how to beat other big, strong teams like LAK and ANA.
Blues are good but they aren't a team that has much playoff experience...something VCR now has. I see VCR winning in 7

With Minnesota playing AV's and the Oilers for the last 2 games .. not that unlikely that we end up playing Minnesota.. I never looked at that possibiliy..Rumsfeld wrote:Actually, we play the Wild if St. Louis gets 2 points or more (they play Calgary tonight), Minnesota wins their two remaining games (Col and Edm), and LA wins at home (in regulation) against San Jose. Apparently the idiots at Sportsnet haven't either, because they just annointed the loser of the SJ/LA game our first round opponent. Fucking hacks.Tiger wrote:With Minnesota playing AV's and the Oilers for the last 2 games .. not that unlikely that we end up playing Minnesota.. Re: Playoffs...2013
Ya, I like LA's chances of taking SJS, as LA will be fighting for 4th seed and home ice. If Minny , Detroit and Columbus all win out, and LA wins then the seedings round one will be very good. Although better if Columbus takes 8th and Detroit goes home. Never count Detroit out though. I just want a challenging opponent for Chicago.
So if LA wins, Minny wins out and Detroit gets a point we would see:
Chicago
Anaheim
Vancouver
LA
St. Louis
Minny
SJS
Detroit (Columbus if Detroit fails to get a point and Columbus wins its final game.)

Lots of divisional matchups if that happens.
Don't see a lot of upsets in the top 3 but I like the idea of St. Loo and LA beating the shit out of each other for 7 games.

Can Henrik and Daniel ever play a more physical style of play? Do they have it in them at all?
I think that if they could find it in them to run over a few guys at least a few times, it would go a long way towards gaining some space or respect from around the league. The league has almost given teams a free pass to take runs at these players and if the refs wont punish teams like they should, these players have to fight back and stick up for themselves.
In my opinion it's what has to happen for this team to go from what we have to what we want. They are our superstars. They are 200lb guys who, for whatever reason, just never have been able to bowl a guy over, punch someone in the face, lose a few teeth, etc.
So do they have it in them?

It's pretty hard, I've been trying for a while in the team Canada thread to no avail.
Could be that it's a genetic fact that Swedish men have very tiny testicles.
But yeah, don't hold your breath waiting for the Sedins to grow a Per. Ain't gonna happen Cap'n.

LOL, 2-0 Edmonton early. Eat shit Minny.
If we get LA in the first round again we will officially be the unluckiest division/PT winners ever as far as first-round matchups go. For three straight years.
