Sunday April 21

AHL

Grand Rapids 3 Chicago 1
Cannata 34 saves on 37 shots (selected as 3rd star)

Rodin, (4) (Davies, Matheson)

Out with a whimper - the Chicago Wolves season is over, and the Canucks prospects will be playing wherever they locate the Peoria franchise.

Notables not in the lineup for Chicago last night were Jordan Schroeder, Frank Corrado, Jim Vandermeer, Andrew Gordon and Darren Archibald.

I will be very interested to see how management handles the new farm team now that they have more control over operations. Who will they hire as the management team? Will the current coaching staff be retained? What kind of system will they encourage? What kind of veteran support do they look to add on the ice? Where will the team be located?

Big changes coming this summer, and not just with the parent club.

With no roster limit after the NHL trade deadline, the Vancouver Canucks were expected to recall right-shot defenceman Frankie Corrado — especially with right shots Kevin Bieksa and Chris Tanev sidelined — and blueliners Peter Andersson and Jim Vandermeer and perhaps wingers Andrew Gordon, Darren Archibald and Guillaume Desbiens could work into the recall mix. Same for centres Jordan Schroeder and Alex Mallet. It’s not official, but the recall word was leaking out Saturday night. None of the above were in the Wolves’ lineup Sunday and Corrado is shown on the updated Canucks roster.

Doesn't this mean we can have all of these guys up now without any of the before mentioned concerns?

I assume we still need to be cap compliant.

But we must be able to exceed the cap by a fair amount with all the injuries we've had this year??

Thanks again this year Southern_Canuck. I never really post, but I've been following your prospects posts here and on the old board for years.

Thanks for saving us the time of trying to dig up info on all the random different sites, trying to track down how our prospects are doing.

No problem - I enjoy tracking the prospects... hockey seems more hopeful when you include the up and comers.

Other than no extended playoff runs - especially for the minor-pros who didn't even make the playoffs - several of the prospects had solid seasons.

I'm keeping my eye on the obvious:
Corrado
Jensen
Gaunce

And the not so obvious:
Mallet
Hutton
McNally
Labate
Cannata
and maybe Lain
