Prospects? The Nucks have prospects? We're ranked 29th by Hockey's future! We can't have any prospects!

If Kitchener gets knocked out of CHL playoffs, can Canucks call up Corrado? With Tanev out, he may be our next best RH shot d-man in the system. Would it be classified as an emergency call-up? I'm not sure of the status of calling a player from the CHL (even when season is over). Have him practice with the team for a bit and hopefully we have a couple of "meaningless" games at the end of the regular season that he can get some action.

What's scary is if 2 more d-men go down, we would be into the Adam Polasek and Yann Sauve call-up type of player. Let's hope our boys stay healthy.

Once Kitchener is eliminated from the playoffs, Corrado is permitted to sign a PTO with the Chicago Wolves, or be called up to Vancouver.

If the Canucks endure a rash of injuries on the blueline and need to make a call to the farm, me thinks Jim Vandermeer and Derek Joslin will get the call before the Sauve and Polasek.

Yeah, would definitely expect JV to get a call, especially once the post-season starts and if there are a few lingering injury issues. IIRC he's played some spot duty up front before.

Thursday April 11

NCAA Semi-Final

Yale 3 Mass-Lowell 2 (OT)
Beattie did not play

It's really too bad that Beattie couldn't crack the top 12 forwards on this squad - they are on an incredible run, and play for the National Championship on Saturday.

OHL Playoffs

Belleville 5 Sudbury 0
Gaunce 1 assist, +1

Belleville wins the series 4-0... now they move on to play Barrie in the Conference Championship starting Fri April 19. Why such a long wait - I guess because both Belleville and Barrie swept their opponents, but the other Conference have longer series playing out.

Friday April 12

AHL

Chicago 3 Rockford 7
Climie 40 saves on 44 shots (replaced in the 3rd by Cannata 11 saves on 14 shots)

Sterling, (23)
Kattelus, (3) (Hunt, Vandermeer) (PP)
Vandermeer, (4) (Sweatt, Polasek) (PP)

Went 3-3 on the 6 game road trip... now sitting in 10th place, 2 points back, with 5 games to go.

OHL Playoffs

Kitchener 1 London 4
McEneny 0 points, even
Corrado 0 points, -1

Kitchener loses the series 1-4... McEneny and Corrado are finished their OHL season - will Corrado get called up to the AHL or NHL?

Isn't he a disease?

Looks like the Canucks are a front runner according to some Quebec based tweets.

Glad the scouting dpt is looking at undrafted players. Martin St Louis says bonjour! (maybe Burrows too)

^^^too bad, no Laganiere - he signed with Anaheim. Boo.

Tuesday April 16

AHL

Chicago 2 Milwaukee 3
Climie 29 saves on 32 shots

Sterling, (24) (Haydar, Schroeder) (PP)
Sweatt, (15) (Matheson, Corrado)

In basically a must win game - Chicago needs to get ahead of Milwaukee and Rockford to make the playoffs - the Wolves came up short. Top prospects Corrado, Jensen, and Schroeder were in the lineup.

Chicago has three games left (including one more against Milwaukee) which they will basically have to win out - while hoping that Rockford loses its two last games (on the road in Texas), and Milwaukee loses its last 3 games.

Friday April 19

AHL

Chicago 5 Lake Erie 2
Climie 40 saves on 42 shots

Vandermeer, (5) (Schroeder, Hunt)
Davies, (15) (Groulx, Kattelus) (PP)
Archibald, (12) (Sweatt, Corrado) (PP)
Hunt, (4) (Haydar, Gordon)
Gordon, (19) (Schroeder, Haydar) (PP)

The good news is that the Wolves won! The bad news is that so did Milwaukee and Rockford. All but mathematically eliminated now.

OHL Playoffs

Barrie 2 Belleville 3
Gaunce 1 assist, +1 (selected 2nd star)

Belleville leads series 1-0

I must say, I was quite impressed with Gaunce last night. Head to head against Mark Scheiffle, Gaunce was the more impressive player.

It would be nice to see him slot in behind Kesler as our future 2nd liner Post Sedins. Shit, who knows, he could very well be our 3rd line centre next year. Very impressive game I saw out of him last night.
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Saturday April 20

AHL

Milwaukee 2 Chicago 0
Climie 22 saves on 23 shots

The Wolves are eliminated - and it is fitting that it was another loss to Milwaukee - earlier in the season they blew several late game leads over Milwaukee on their way to embarrassing losses.

OHL Playoffs

Barrie 5 Belleville 0
Gaunce 0 points, -1

Series tied 1-1
