Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
As per Kyprios.
For a 2nd rounder.
Ah yes, another small forward. At least he's offensive.

KC is Dallas bound

Kevin Connauton
Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
Price was a 2nd rounder and Kevin Connauton.
Barker has also been placed on waivers.

Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
Here we go again. 2nd round pick plus a prospect for a rental player. No way we have the $ to sigh Roy after this season.

Zedlee,
Why don't you let Gillis and Gilman manage the cap while you relax. If Luongo and Ballard make their way off the roster over the summer it frees up 10 Mill in cap space with just those two moves.

It does not really matter, the Canucks need a centre now. Besides, Connauton is still having problems in his own zone. He might not make it to the NHL any time soon with the Canucks.Zedlee wrote:Here we go again. 2nd round pick plus a prospect for a rental player. No way we have the $ to sigh Roy after this season.
Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
Roy is going to cash in this offseason. I highly doubt it will be here.
He's a highly imperfect player but he can produce at one end of the rink and with our bevy of two way wingers we should be able to ice three highly effective lines when Ryan Kesler gets back - and more importantly, two even while he is out.
I'm not worried about losing Kevin Connauton, the 2nd round pick is a bit steep but for probably the second best center that could conceivably have become available at the deadline I'd say it's a pretty good price for the Canucks.

Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
I think this is a perfectly acceptable price for Derek Roy.
He is exacty what we need right now.
Considering Murray went for 2 - 2nd rounders I think Gillis did quite well.

Not really...the Cap is going down 6 million.Groovypippin wrote:Zedlee,

I tend to agree with Zedlee right off the bat. But, Connauton will not be the difference between this team making and missing the playoffs in 5 years when Van has holes in their D and in their lineup. And a second rounder is a crap shoot.
This is what I, and others, have been asking for; take a risk and go for it. With Edler, Tanev and Corrado they have 3 (relatively) young D going foward. And Bieksa, Hamhuis and Garrison have 4 to 8 years left in the tank each.
The Canucks are relatively rich on the back end.
Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
Price seems acceptable at the moment, but of course we'll see how it works out.
Roy's production has been declining year over year. Is that a case of poorer quality linemates, regression or being utilized in different situations?

Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
Premium payed for a centre. Cannaughton was not developing as hoped, but may still make it one day. Pressure now on Corrado.
Roy is small, real small. Hopefully Schroeder gets a chance to hang with him and learn a bit.
Next week we have Henrik, Kesler, Roy, Lapierre down the middle. Look for Henrik and Kesler to do duty against opponents top lines.
I wonder if ownership had to speak to each other on this?
Coho replaces Roy in Buffalo, now Roy replaces Coho in Vancouver.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Re: Canucks Acquire Derek Roy
The emergence of Frankie Corrado made Connauton expendable.
