Re: 2013 Season Injury Thread
My buddy who is a general surgeon and trained in sports medicine said arthroscopic surgery is a relatively common and easy task. So you would think that a local Canuck doctor would be able to perform this. But then again, maybe the Canucks' "arthroscopic specialist" was out of town? I guess we don't know until the Canucks release what kind of surgery he actually had...

Or Booth has his own doctor(s) he feels comfortable with. It is not uncommon for players, in any sport, to have specialists they have dealt with before and prefer to use.
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: 2013 Season Injury Thread
I think what is being asked is a link to where it says Booth didn't have the surgery locally.
I don't remember hearing the flew Booth somewhere else for his surgery.

Boi RD, this is such terrible news for the Canucks moving forward. We most certainly will be missing his one empty net goal in 11 games.Aaronp18 wrote:Booth having surgery today per Gillis interview on 1040, and many tweets.
May be ready in playoffs.

If you need air...call it in
Re: 2013 Season Injury Thread
Dale Weise has his arm in a sling and it doesn't look like Gillis is in a hurry to call anybody else up. Look for Keith Ballard to remain a forward for some time, where he has looked serviceable (although I noticed him playing D on more than on occassion last night out of instinct, likely).

He's the 2nd coming of Byfuglin.. lol.herb wrote:Dale Weise has his arm in a sling and it doesn't look like Gillis is in a hurry to call anybody else up. I don't mind trying KB4 as a forward for a while. If we are not letting him play his style on D, we might as well let him be a rushing, puck carrying forward.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Saw Kes and Kassian out in Yaletown on the weekend - Kes still in his walking boot and on crutches, but Kassian was walking around without a care in the world and didn't look injured at all. I'm not saying he's faking it at all, just that I see him back pretty soon given I've had back issues in the past and you can barely move if they are bad.

@FarhanLaljiTSN35s
AV re Tanev & Higgins: lower body. Neither will make trip at all. Hopeful to have Higgins back for playoffs.
Lower body. Yep, it's that time of the year where specific injuries are kept quiet.
FWIW I read where someone said he saw Higgins take a puck off the foot.

If Higgins ,Tanev and Booth are back by the playoffs.. we are going to be in better shape than most yearsMondi wrote:Higgins and Tanev are out until the playoffs (as per AV)...sounds about right for Canucks.

FFS just as we are getting rolling, maybe we should play all the Wolves until the playoffs...Mondi wrote:Higgins and Tanev are out until the playoffs (as per AV)...sounds about right for Canucks.
I love every move Jim Benning makes

Re: 2013 Season Injury Thread
I'd like to be optimistic and say that this is precautionary because the Canucks pretty much have a playoff spot in the bag. Tanev did go back out after the hit and played. I didn't see Higgins go down, but it seems his is not a very serious injury. Then again, Kesler played 6 games on a broken foot, so you never know.
Truth be told, I would like to see Schroeder get called up to play wing with Roy and Hansen. He would be a huge offensive upgrade over Weise and it's not like he's a liability out there. Maybe he can learn from being up close to the kind of player both he and the organization hope he can become. If I'm Roy, I'm looking over at Weise and thinking, "F*ck me, how am I going to succeed with this guy on my wing?"
Tanev's injury could be a real kick to the junk if it lasts well into the playoffs. Garrison's been looking better on the right side of late, and Ballard/Alberts held their own last night but I don't think anybody's comfy looking at that right side long-term if Tanev's not there.
At least Kesler's back...
