Jovocop, is it true, did you really call Getzlaf & O'Reilly BUMS??!!

.... or is this just a WOPPER?

So Gillis brought on some big contracts that are flopping right now. I'm sure he recognizes this......but what do you want him to do about it? Waive them? If they got scooped for nothing you'd be all over his ass for losing assets and getting zero return.

The market isn't returning anything worthwhile on Luongo, and nobody wants to see Gillis just give him away for a rental or some lowball return. $4M contracts are going to be tough to move when the player isn't putting up numbers. So as far as roster moves go he is in something of a jam.

The only move Gillis can really make right now is to fire AV and his staff and bring on someone like Ruff.....and to be honest the time is right for this. There are still 23 games left to play, the Canucks probably only need to win 13 or 14 of them in order to get into the playoffs, and the talent and experience is there in the room to pull that off even with the bumpy adjustment period that a coaching change brings. I don't think Gillis could find a better opportunity than right now when a coach of Ruff's pedigree is sitting on the sidelines and has already said he wants to coach again.
Uh huh.. Gilles screws up so we fire the coach.. and still have 15 million tied up in 3 contracts he has had ample time to deal with. Agree its over a year since the Canucks have been an "Elite" team.. They haven't been that since last years allstar break..
He used the term BOLD MOVE.. but it was Minnesota that made the BOLD MOVE and won the game with Parise and Sutter.. not Gilles who has had ample time to address the problems ..The amount of $$ tied up in Lou,Ballard and Booth is close to the 16 million Minnesota paid fot those 2..
Maybe Aquaman will make the BOLD MOVE and fire Gilles?

On the other hand...

Expect Luongo to play tonight against the Jackets.

He may be ready to prove something again. In spite of playing for a goof who thinks it's funny when his players are in difficult circumstances.

If Luongo gets on another roll, he could force Gillis' hand, and the dominoes begin to fall.
Less Canucks embarrassment please.

Don't think so, MG is arrogant to admit a mistake. Seems to be part of being a GM of a sports team.

Nope, I just don't think their contracts are good, not so much about the $ but the terms. 8 years for a 27 years old PHYISCAL power forwards is just too long. However, to RD, if he does not like a contract, the player must be a bum (Booth, Ballard, Luongo)

You are delusional if you think Gillis made any of those moves without consulting AV on what he thought of the player(s) coming back or signing. My bet is that AV was jumping for joy when Samuellson (sp?) was traded away for Booth, and when Grabner was traded away for Ballard.

The Canucks can win with Lou in net - the inept coaching staff doesn't know what to do with their skaters to make it happen.
