Mar 5 Sharks @ Canucks S-Pac - 7pm
Time to take a bite out of the floundering Sharks!
Ballard back in, Alberts out
CANUCKS
Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Alexandre Burrows
Chris Higgins - Mason Raymond - Jannik Hansen
David Booth - Maxim Lapierre - Zack Kassian
Tom Sestito - Jordan Schroeder - Dale Weise
Dan Hamhuis - Jason Garrison
Alexander Edler - Christopher Tanev
Keith Ballard - Cam Barker
SHARKS
Bracken Kearns - Joe Thornton - Logan Couture
Joe Pavelski - Patrick Marleau - Tim Kennedy
Ryane Clowe - Scott Gomez - James Sheppard
Adam Burish - Michal Handzus - Andrew Desjardins
Brad Stuart - Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Dan Boyle - Matt Irwin
Douglas Murray - Jason Demers
Injured: Martin Havlat (lower body), Tommy Wingels (undisclosed), Brent Burns (lower body)
Scratched: TJ Galiardi, Justin Braun
Notes: Havlat, who left Saturday's 2-1 win against the Nashville Predators late in the second period, did not travel with the Sharks for their two-game road trip, which concludes in Calgary on Wednesday. … Kearns was called up from Worcester of the American Hockey League and will play just his sixth NHL game in an eight-season professional career. It also will be his first game in his hometown of Vancouver, where his dad, Dennis, played 677 NHL games as a Canucks defenseman from 1971-81.

Re: Mar 5 Sharks @ Canucks S-Pac - 7pm
I would rather he just use that 4th line as an energy line and put Schroeder on the 3rd line to be a setup man with Booth and Kassian. Of course Vigneault can't seem to deal with having a 3rd line that is more geared for scoring than playing shutdown hockey. Oddly enough the most exciting team we've seen in Vancouver in the last few years was when we were going strong with 3 lines contributing on the scoreboard and a fourth line that would grind it out, eat minutes, and play at least somewhat responsibly. Then he got Pahlsson and the team floundered, ultimately backing into the President's Trophy and bowing out in 5 playoff games.

I would agree, although IMO having the 4th line as a checking line rather than an "energy line" might be the way to go. Instead of having the 4th line just to run around and try to hit people, some more big wingers in the top 3 lines to deliver the body on every shift, and have the 4th line as the checking/PK line. Unfortunately Manny's injury took him out of the picture in that roleMëds wrote:I would rather he just use that 4th line as an energy line and put Schroeder on the 3rd line to be a setup man with Booth and Kassian. Doesn't matter how much he tries to adapt to that offense-first style, his natural state is boring-as-hell shutdown hockey.Mëds wrote:Of course Vigneault can't seem to deal with having a 3rd line that is more geared for scoring than playing shutdown hockey.
Agreed re. Schroeder. But that would be displacing a plug for a kid with potential - we all know how that that story ends...
As for tonight, hope Ballard can play well enough to stay in the line-up. (i.e. the perfect game)

I know, he's like Jacques Lemaire's younger brother. I hated it when we shutdown hockeyed our way to two straight seasons of being the top scoring team in the league.DonCherry4PM wrote:Doesn't matter how much he tries to adapt to that offense-first style, his natural state is boring-as-hell shutdown hockey.Mëds wrote:Of course Vigneault can't seem to deal with having a 3rd line that is more geared for scoring than playing shutdown hockey.

OMG now he’s trying to get Ballard killed!
THINK, if you’re the opposition you run that pairing mercilessly.
Neither one of them is very bright and neither likes to get hit, both would rather just give the puck away!
The Bad: 7-3 Sharks, Ballard taken off the ice on a stretcher
The Good: AV gets fired and replaced with Lindy Rupp, Ballard taken off the ice on a stretcher
The Ugly: A certain you-know-wot screams “1-4 in last 5, FIRE GILLIS!!!” for 2 full days….

Sigh...special Ed has showed up again. How many more retard moments are we going to allow Edler before AV does something more than deny him milk and cookies before bed? Bloody brutal

So Schroeder moves the puck well enough to play on our first PP unit but he gets stuck playing on the 4th line.
Booth might actually be able to use his speed effectively if he had a centre that could hit him in stride. Right now all he can do is push the puck forward and forecheck after it.
Lappy is an elite 4th line centre at best, switch him and Schroeder please.

You can be sure that they are not trying to trade Schroeder away. No "Coho" treatment!Aaronp18 wrote:So Schroeder moves the puck well enough to play on our first PP unit but he gets stuck playing on the 4th line.
