Re: Keith Ballard
I don't really give a shit about the Ballard drama. If the coach doesn't like his system play then dump him for a pick and get a right-hander at the deadline. He's a better player than Alberts or Barker but AV is a prick and that's not going to change.
Defense isn't really this team's problem. We have great personnel, they just look lazy at times, and it's understandable given where this team has been the past few years. I think they'll be tight again down the stretch and into the playoffs, the way they were to start the season. We desperately need a top 6 winger and a high-end third line center. That Bozak, Kadri and a 2nd trade would be looking pretty damn good right now, I gotta admit. Pauser and the other HF mongoloids think Luongo is worth Stamkos and a pick, but that's what happens when you spend an entire summer in your grandmother's basement.
I would have shitcanned Vigneault and traded Luongo after the 2010 Hawks series but I'm not privy to the day-to-day inner machinations of the team like Gillis is. The guy is an excellent NHL coach that most teams would love to have behind the bench. Whether his message and system have gotten stale in the dressing room remains to be seen. Lindy Ruff is the only guy out there right now I can see being a decent replacement.

Re: Keith Ballard
Yeah, I agree. I liked Rome alot and if ballard can't play in a top 4 spot for us, we're better off having rome in the #6 spot. His salary fits that role (although dallas gave him a nice raise) and what he brings to the table fits that role better as well (size, defensively, physical play, plays right side, etc).
herb wrote:Potatoe is right. We'd be better off with Aaron freaking Rome, Sami Salo or any other defenseman who can play the right side.
Next to Rome, Andrew Alberts is actually one of the better depth defensemen we have had over the years. A big guy who throws punishing hits.

If that was the truth then other players would also be out, the point is any mistake Ballard makes is high profile than a mistake another D man makes.black ace wrote:Ballard got benched because he wasnt playing good hockey. Bottom line.

Bieksa and Edler were pretty brutal for the first few games of this season but they weren't benched, not even a single shift. Agree or not, Ballard were never given the icetime to prove himself like other veterans.Reefer2 wrote:If that was the truth then other players would also be out, the point is any mistake Ballard makes is high profile than a mistake another D man makes.black ace wrote:Ballard got benched because he wasnt playing good hockey. Re: Keith Ballard
Think what u want lil boy, think what u want.
Just remember this, I did not start the mud slinging. U take a shot @ me, I punch back. I am not a Sedin. That's all there is too it. I know I'm nothing great, just an average guy who likes chatting about Nucks hockey. In your little mind, you may think you're big Al, which confirms my point that u have a big ego; however, in my opinion you're more like cheap shot specialist Brad Marchand or Matt Cooke.
Do what u want, but I'm going to do what I'm going to do.

Ballard simply isn't as good as Bieksa or Edler.Jovocop wrote:Bieksa and Edler were pretty brutal for the first few games of this season but they weren't benched, not even a single shift. Yes a real pillow puncher we have here.
No you aren't a Sedin.....more like say a Magnus Arvedsson or an Anders Eldebrink.

Re: Keith Ballard
What you don't mention Alain is that Ballard was never given any rope yet others can make bone head plays one after another and when missing a shift would actually send a good message the coaches do nothing. Ballard looks the wrong way and he is benched or misses a game. Not saying he does not deserve a lot of it but there has to be some accountability for the other players. When they don't then the mistakes keep happening.Potatoe1 wrote:

Re: Keith Ballard
Other than playing like shite whenever he was put on the ice last year.. and playing full shifts for 19 games ?Reefer2 wrote:What you don't mention Alain is that Ballard was never given any rope yet others can make bone head plays one after another and when missing a shift would actually send a good message the coaches do nothing. HW compared him to Garrison.. so here are the stats and a very good reason for benching him
19 game stats:::
Garrison 3 goals 4 assists and a plus 6
Ballard 0 goals 1 assist and a 0 on the plus /minus
yeah he started well this year but has not proven a good defensive or offensive dman .. Partnering him with Tanev was to steady him and give him a defensively responsible partner .. The last 2 games he played he stunk up the ice.. Yeah Edler is sucking too but has a good history with the Nucks.. Ballard has never proven anythng yet/

Wooot, +1. Hopefully he's out like a month or come back around the deadline, so we might be able to move him.
