Aaron -not going to quote your post, you did bring up some good points.

What all teams need to do is cultivate (sp) some of the younger guys and give them chances so when injuries occur they can come up. They also are at an excellent cap hit for the first 3 seasons or part of depending on what they have left.

Yes Tanev came up and did well to earn his time, BUT if injuries did not occur we would probably have Alberts starting on the top 6 this season, or they would of kept Rome or some other scrub. Tanev was able to make a couple of mistakes and because there was no one better to take his place he was allowed to learn in the NHL and now we have a capable young and cheap D man.

Canucks being as good as they are have the luxury of bringing some young guys up and giving them some ice time, especially the last couple of seasons when they had the division wrapped up after Christmas, excellent time to give some young guys top minutes to learn and then earn future ice time.

Agreed.

If Jensen is done in Sweden, MG should bring him back to the Canucks for 5 games while Kesler is out for another 4-6 weeks. If he plays well, keep him. If not, send him down the Wolves.

No. I'm thinking way back to his rookie season in Vancouver. A young prospect, thrown into the limelight, never to recover.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Sure Reef, right after the league allows an expanded roster for these niche players.

No argument there.

Tanev stepped up when he could, other rookies have not shown themselves able to do that. Sauve had a chance, Connauton could get one if he shows he can help keep the puck out of the net at the AHL level.

Every player is able to make a couple mistakes, it's the continual ones that cost guys ice-time or even roster spots.

The problem is you can't just call guys up to simply give them ice-time in the NHL. The Canucks are limited to the number of roster spots they can have, so to bring someone up someone has to be sent down. And as we saw today it means potentially losing players for nothing.

Even worse, eventually we may have to bring that player back up and until the new CBA he could be claimed off re-entry waivers at half the cap hit. With the Canucks being on the hook for the other half.

It's easy to say we should bring kids up for the experience when the division is wrapped up but there is a Cap to keep in mind, limited roster spots, the waiver wire, and other issues and rules the Canucks need to be aware of. It's easier said than done.

Why not put more responsibility on the players that we have, why can't they take advantage of situations they have been given? Are they putting in adequate effort to learn our systems, to get faster and stronger? They need to push the fringe players out of a roster spot like Tanev did.

AIK ended in 9th place and missed the playoffs. Jensen's season is over.

Have they assigned him to Chicago yet?

OK I am tired and I probably know the answer.

Can he play for the Nucks this season? (provided he deserves it yes I know)

Over X game he would be requried to stay up or is he burning a year on his ELC regardless once he joins the wolves.

Jensen, two goals already...Here is our cap friendly replacement for David 'low returns' Booth.

The way you include him in every thread is a bit disturbing Dude. Almost like forbidden lust

Booth out with what looks like a nasty ankle injury.

Cue Jensen's call-up. Unless it's Archibald or they want to bring the smurf up for winger duty. Please, somebody other than Bill Sweatt.

As much as I'd like to see Jensen called up, he's almost certainly not ready and not what is badly, badly needed. Henrik played almost 23 minutes last night and there's nobody else on the roster that can adequately play the position. I keep hearing that Gillis is trying to get somebody but trying doesn't help, he needs to actually get someone.

That said,I wouldn't be against Jensen coming up as somebody needs to.

The flip side is Jensen plays 5 games and his entry level contract kicks in.

He plays the rest of the season and a year of a valuable entry level contract is gone after 20 games instead of 82.

That sounds like Tambellini type management.

You DO NOT bring up Jensen if he's not ready. Period. I haven't followed him enough to make a call if he's NHL ready right now, but the worst thing you can do is to bring him up and have him struggle at this level. Leave him in the AHL and let him score some goals. Maybe you add him to the roster at season's end if the Wolves are not going to be in playoffs, but don't put him in situations where could struggle here.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of fresh faces to hit the lineup next year, Jensen being one of them. After a summer of conditioning and strengthening, he will likely be more NHL ready next year. Let him succeed in the "A"
