No press conference needed to justify that firing.

Although, Howson recently became the winningest GM in BJ history...

Jets acquire Eric Tangradi for just a paltry 7th rounder.

Evander has a bad month and pulls the race card:

Fugly probably wonders why he didn't think of that when he was (ALLEGEDLY) boating hammered.

Meanwhile Jarome Iginla is like WTF.

I'm going out to buy a fur coat and bigger rims. I may or may not do it with a handgun.

Jets pull off another trade..
via TheFourthPeriod

So the Jets trade Ponikarovsky to NJ for 2 draft picks, pretty much to replace Zubrus, who is having wrist surgery tmrw

It looks Erik Karlsson had his Achilles tendon cut by Matt Cookes' skate. Man, what a nasty injury if it is indeed a fact.

Why more guys aren't wearing those kevlar socks is beyond me. I wager Bieksa swears by them nowadays. Speaking of whom, if Bieksa's injury is any barometer dpending on the severity, Karlsson could be a while in getting back to Norris form. A guy whose game is generated off his skating.... all I can say is 'oye...'.

Hope the kid bounces back quick. Otherwise, with Spezza gone who knows how long, this could be one loooooong shortened season in Ottawa.

Just confirmed, a severed Achilles tendon requiring surgery to repair. Done for the season.

Could be a long recovery for this kid.

Define nasty skate...you meant the cut? Was an accidental fluke right?

On TSN they all concluded it's accidental and I agree.

The league will take a gander at that nasty gash, say meh and move on.

I dunno. I was watching the game live and said to the wife: "That little prick Cooke is at it again!"

My immediate gut reaction was he did it on purpose.

Maybe cuz it's Cooke.

Maybe cuz I had just got home from day surgery at ARH and was very stoned indeed.

Maybe cuz I have Karlsson in the Corner hockey pool and need someone to blame for this. :P

I know most of the experts are concluding it was accidental.

Along with most of the posters at HF.

But I'm gonna hafta go with my gut on this one.

There's something about the way he skated away without even glancing back as Karlsson screamed in agony.

Nope I'm going to remain in the minority on this one.

I'm think he was kicking/stomping at Karlsson's ankle on purpose.

Not saying he was trying to slice his tendon!

I dunno, at the very least the league should have some kind of suspension for careless use of a skate blade no?

(yeah I know they don't, but they SHOULD)

Poor Karlsson, hard not to think about all that Bieksa went through coming back from that...
