Suter's the kind of defenseman you get a chance to add in free agency maybe once every three or four years. And of course only one team gets that guy once every three or four years, so..

In the last CBA - and maybe I'm missing some guys here - I'd put him above Bouwmeester, above Campbell but below Chara or Niedermayer in terms of top tier defensemen who changed teams. That $7.5m cap hit is steep but under a $64.3m cap it's similar to paying in the $5m range under the cap we saw coming out of the lockout. By comparison Scott Niedermayer's deal with the Ducks paid him the same proportion of their cap ceiling as an $11.128m cap hit would under a $64.3m cap ceiling.

Here's one way to express the (average) salaries these players got as unrestricted free agents - as a percentage of the salary cap in the first season:

Niedermayer: 17.308
Chara: 17.045
Campbell: 12.597
Bouwmeester: 11.761
Suter: 11.724

I'd say it's not too bad but obviously that's heavily dependent on the cap ceiling continuing to rise.

That being said if you just don't think Suter is a #1 defenseman or even a top pairing guy, then he's definitely not worth the investment.

Mëds wrote:On par for their team's individual production really.....but it is low for him. Based on past seasons and the current team play I would expect him to be closer to 2G and 2A.....so he could turn it around with one big game I suppose. :P
Man, could you imagine if Alex Edler's production was so shitty?

Shit that would suck. I bet there'd be a lot of complaining then about our $5M d-man.

Gotta wonder what's up with Manny.

Here's a rumour I just started.

They asked him if he would waive cuz a team wants him included in a Luongo trade

.... now he's upset and thinking about calling it quits.

Good rumour, first thing I thought about :D . But didn't his wife have a problem last year with some type of medication she was on? Anyway all that has been said is that it is personal time. And remember, MG has said he would NEVER ask a player to waive.
The only HW the Canucks need

No Luongo trade then wot?

Yeah Gillis said that and THAT is why Manny is so upset!

Or so MY BULLSHIT STORY goes.

Remember that even in jest, posting personal rumours about public figures will not work here.

Well...the train of thought was... Suter has zero goals...wonder if it's cause he's away from his ex-partner Weber...then I saw "The Stat" re:Weber...and Blobs your uncle!
So it kinda/sorta/not really has something to do with Minny or at least a Minny player and his ex-partner

7-2 Canucks

Dank turns a trick to get his brother past Naz.

Danny (3)
Hank
Kassian
Hammer
Ballard

Kassian gets back on the big line and they explode all over Minny's proverbial face.

Canucks go down by one early and couches across the lower mainland yearn for their plastic wrap. Reefer receives his first mod warning early in the second.

Poster Rumsfeld is still appallingly hung over from the long weekend despite sleeping for eleven straight hours. Poster Rumsfeld is too old for this shit and needs to take it easy. :scowl:
