Season series: It's the first of four meetings between the Northwest Division rivals, who get together again in Vancouver next Tuesday. The Canucks won four of the six games last season, but both Wild wins came at home.
Other stuff...
For those of you who gamble, and this would really be gambling, playnow.com is giving 11:1 odds on Tanev scoring in a Canucks win. 11:1 also on both Sedins scoring in a Canucks win.

3-2 Canucks in a squeaker.
Hank
Higgins
Schroeder
If we can win this with no second line we send a message to the division that we're still the top dogs. Calgary on Sat should be easy so a 7-2-2 start would be pretty damned sweet considering no Kesler and Booth and Lou still untraded. We can lose at home to Minny and I won't give a shit if we take the next two.

Burrows apparently injured his hand at practice today.

I'm sure he'll think of something else to stuff into Parise's mouth.

Get ready for the RD special: SHUTDOWN HOCKEY.
If you have popcorn, save it for a movie.
Now watch it be an exciting game...

The Wild lines are reportedly...
Zach Parise — Mikko Koivu — Charlie Coyle
Dany Heatley — Matt Cullen — Pierre-Marc Bouchard
Torrey Mitchell — Kyle Brodziak — Cal Clutterbuck
Mike Rupp — Zenon Konopka — Devin Setoguchi

And Bieksa with the flu.
Hopefully they're both in the lineup or it's .... Ebbet and Alberts!
The Wild had a team meeting today and it seems they hate your Vancouver Canucks for some reason.
Schneids gets chased, Canucks lose 5-2.

The Wild consider us their biggest rival AND they had a team meeting before the game?
Could be a disappointing one for Canucks fans. We never seem to play well in Minnesota.

This seems a reasonable time to put the Luongo roll on pause (don't want him tired or jaded).
Schneider may feel he has something to prove. He can grind his axe, while AV tightens the screws.

Generally speaking, from the games I've watched between these clubs in rent years...
Canucks vs Wild in Vancouver are generally entertaining but close checking......
Canucks vs Wild in Minnesota are generally entertaining in a lopsided fashion......one way or the other.
Generally speaking.

It looks like the Wild are loading up on goons. First with Konopka and now with Rupp. Should be an interesting game with a couple of scraps. I'm not a great one for predictions so I'll just say I hope the Canucks win and that Schroeder has one heck of a game.

Yeah this could be the only way to win, is if Schneider plays lights out, and we get some goals from some of our 'secondary' scoring like Higgins etc.
And these Wild games might no be so boring now with Parise, Suter and Heatley, with Clutterbuck still trying to stir up drama.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."
