Just for the kicks... if they wanted this badly, Pittsburgh can afford both Luongo and MAF this season. More than 8m in free cap space. Also: Brandon Sutter was among the "six for Cody". Excellent up and coming player on excellent contract, that's obvious. Experienced and excellent backup in Vokoun. I also remember that the Canucks were heavily interested in Beau Bennett in his draft year. Connecting the dots in a homerish way...

That said, if Pens are willing to go with 2 very good starters, why can't we?

Yeah, outside of a shift with BXA last night, Ballard has looked great. Carrying the puck well. Clearing the zone. Playing off Tanev very well. But, that shift with BXA was effing brutal. 2 turn overs in under 20 seconds. The Killer B's must never be reformed

Over the weekend Mike Gillis and Laurence Gilman caused quite the stir by attending a Washington Capitals home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Super Bowl Sunday. The ensuing speculation led Gillis to ultimately apologize to to Washington Capital's General Manager McPhee (or if you prefer: GMMG apologized to GMGM), and McPhee ultimately complimented Gillis' class. I find all of that exceptionally boring.


More interesting, is the report from TSN's Bob McKenzie who appeared on the Team 1040 on Monday afternoon and said that the Canucks management team spent some of their time on the East Coast scouting Yale Bulldogs forward Antoine Laganière.

Garrison has been on for two goals against in 9 games. New team, new system. He will be fine. He is basically a bigger version of Hamhuis with a better shot.

Speaking of Garrison, he needs a setup man for his one-timer. Edler seems to shoot more often than to pass. They are not very effective together on the powerplay.

I agree. Would almost make sense to try a four forwards one D approach with Garrison to make him more of a focal point on the second power play.

We've seen this with a lot of players that come to Vancouver, whether it is training or injuries or whatever. It seems to take these guys quite a bit to get comfortable and get into Canucks hockey. GArrison is at least getting the ice time and PP opportunities to work out his stuff, rehabbing an injury over the summer.

So MG and Gillman are in the East scouting US College hockey. While there they are taking in some NHL games. After the internet buzz when they went to the Washington and Pittsburg game they have apologized to other GM's for the controversy and now inform the teams ahead of time that they will be there.

He seems to be trying to do too much as far as controlling the puck instead of getting himself in position to unload that howitzer he possesses. Brian Cambell also is the king of assists. Playing a good puckmoving forward at the point on the PP to feed him would help too.
