I hope they err on the side of caution. The solid team start lowers the pressure to get him in the lineup. No rush here, let's not have any summer declarations that he came back a bit too soon and re-aggravated, been there done that.

I think they are being very cautious with Kesler. One of the articles I quoted earlier in the thread said one of the issues in rehab was that he couldn't start rehabbing his shoulder as soon as they would have liked because he then had his wrist surgery.

This doesn't delay the healing and ROM exercises but rather the strengthening of the muscles surrounding the joint.

So essentially they are likely waiting until he had regained all the strength in his left are that he had previous to the injury before the gave him the OK to take contact. This is a good thing, basically means he should be 100% when coming back.

Now it'll be getting up to game speed and regaining the confidence in his surgically repaired arm. The reason he joined the team now was likely due to the two day break they just had and the upcoming one before the Minny game. It allows some good practice time. They also have 2 more 2 day breaks next week which should be great for Kesler and the team.

The timing is ideal to get him practicing with the team and back in the line-up around mid-February!

Games are Monday and Thursday, lots of opportunity to skate with the team at something approaching game speed.

That is why he is on the trip.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I wouldn't hold out much hope of seeing the 2011 Kesler until 2013/14.

Nothing to do with the Canucks but apparently Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was hurt in the first shift of OT the other night and is not skating today.

Oilers fans have been speculating that he's been playing through a shoulder injury - by my count it would either be the fourth of his professional career, or one injury that has never fully cleared up.

Someone get FAN.

Taylor Hall has had shoulder issues as well, hasn't he?

Sekeres tweeting that Tomlinson believes Kesler could be in the lineup on Saturday.

Giddy up.

It's just Tomlinson's speculation.

I believe he had a shoulder injury as well, that's just looking over his page at TSN.ca so I couldn't say whether it was of the chronic/nagging variety.. don't really recall.

If Kesler is ready to go that's great.

I kind of like him getting those extra practice days in next week but it'll be even nicer having him in the lineup ASAP to bang off that rust.

As long as he's 100%!!

I know you did. I just dislike his speculation is far off the mark.

Kesler: "The shoulder is a big thing. I have to make sure it's 100 per cent. The range of motion is there, but strength isn't there at all."
It seems like it might be a week or two away at the very least.

Where does Schroeder fit once Kesler is back? He fairs well in his own zone, but lack the size for the third/fourth lines imo.

As has been suggested by a few others, I think we try him on the wing.

Hell he may even work well with Kesler as he does see the ice well and may be able to feed him the puck.

I think he's played well enough to earn a look as a 3rd line winger spot at least, maybe some spot duty with Kesler.
