Re: GDT: Jan 27 - Canucks @ Sharks 5:00PM PST SNET-P
This team is absolute shit right now.
Ebbett on our PK. Fuck are we bad.
Breakout under any pressure is horrible.....that is coaching.
PP is garbage and poorly setup.....that is coaching.
Wrong players out at wrong time.....that is coaching.
This game is 6-1 right now without Schneider.....well 6-3 without Schneider and Niemi's posts.
Niemi is an absolutely shitty goaltender who has just ended up behind some incredible teams, he often is lost as to where the puck is and scrambling out of position.....good thing for him the Canucks have no real snipers and a coach who doesn't know a fucking thing about offense.

Thornton getting away with his usual cheap shit. I really want to see him get injured by a low blow to a knee or a head shot. Seriously can't handle a guy that talented but that dirty who gets away with it and cries like a fucking baby over every little thing. He's a complete douche.

Clowe had a target on his back all night, and did us a huge favour by taking himself out of the game. Trying to get the PIMS up in a shortened season, I s'pose.
Just one of those games, I think the post-count is up to 17 after 2 periods. If the Garrison-Edler pairing didn't forget their brains in the dressing room to start the game it might be a different story.

It's not just this game Island.....I've had this opinion of Thornton for years, he's among my top 5 mosted hated players in the league because he is so good but gets away with so much. Clowe is just helping the Sharks pad their PK stats.Island Nucklehead wrote:Easy Mëds.Mëds wrote:Thornton getting away with his usual cheap shit. It is actually embarassing to watch a PP coached by Alain Vigneault and Rick Bowness. I mean, the Sharks will move for us if we just stand still and don't move around.....right?

Love the San Jose feed after Bieksa cleans Gomez's clock. Not a head hit, maybe a tad late... oh well. The announcers are incredulous.
This one's done. Vancouver should be frustrated after this. No-show from the Sedins, who got totally out-matched by Thornton tonight. Our defence was bad, Ballard-Tanev were the best tandem. No help from the posts... oh well. PP was tragic. A lot of dumb penalties by our guys. Just a game to forget.

The Sharks best players were their best players, ours were not. The Sedins completely phoned it in, probably one of the worst no shows from them I've seen in a while. Irritates me cause these are the kind of games you'd expect your best players to show up for.
Great, great game from Hansen
Not a very good game from Schneider.
We sorely lack a proper Power Play quarterback. Really not impressed with Garrison on the PP. Gotta say, I'm finding Garrison rather meh. I hope this isn't all that we are getting from him.
The turning point in the game was the Lappiere penatly, fucking idiot. This is the kind of shit that irritates me about Lappiere.
Can we please not see Ebbett dress ever again. Completely useless
I did love our push back though, we laid out some pretty good hits and other than Sedins we didn't completely chicken out. We are still a better team than San Jose if we are healthy and the Sedins put their balls back on.
Nice gonads from Kassian for going with one of the leagues toughest players and nice gonads from Volpatti for going with a giant in Murray. Patti did rock him with one early.
I keep yelling 'WEISE, FIGHT!' but then I remember, he can't fight.

“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

Team came out very flat, wont win them all but not showing up is what frustrates most fans.
0 - 7 on the PP - yikes - not good enough and this needs to be worked on. Really can't wait for Kesler to get back.
Another game tomorrow night and Bobby Lou will probably be in net.

I'm willing to cut Garrison some slack this season just so he can adjust to his new linemates/system, but yeah I haven't been all that impressed with him thus far either.RoyalDude wrote:We sorely lack a proper Power Play quarterback. As for a bonafide, slick, setup QB dman that would be awesome to acquire! that's the only thing missing from our top 4 of Edler/Garrison/Bieksa/Hamhuis all are good two way mobile dmen, but none of them are specialists at carrying the puck up the ice, with some deft stick handling and then a saucer pass w/playing making skills to get a quick transition game going consistently, which was something Ehrhoff was awesome at.
But it's tough to find a fit for that type of dman in this top 4, especially with the cap going down, if MG was ever planning on something like that, the only top 4 dman I can see being dealt would be KB.
Ballard is a given to be moved this season sometime for some help up front or this offseason.
Yeah a back to back game AV should put in Luongo tomorrow, especially if AV's job is still to get this team a win at all costs, and not be influenced by MG.Reefer2 wrote:Team came out very flat, wont win them all but not showing up is what frustrates most fans.

I can't wait for Kesler's return as well, but seeing the Pens man up and still be a great team with Malkin and Crosby injured before, one would think that the president trophy winners here with the Canucks can at least do the same.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I'm not sure what to think of Edler on the right side. Do you keep him there and endure the short term pain while he gets more experience and acclimated. Will there even be long term gain?
Oddly, that was Vancouver's best 5 on 5 game. They gave up only 3 scoring chances at 5 on 5 for the whole game.

Saw the last period and a half. PP 0 for 7 tells the story. Canucks have gone back to their habit of being stationary and passing around the perimeter. Daniel is playing out high and not shooting. Someone has to move into the gap between the defenders to break the box down.

Re: GDT: Jan 27 - Canucks @ Sharks 5:00PM PST SNET-P
Right now Edler on the right side may be the best of a bad situation; out of Hamhuis, Garrison, Ballard and Edler he might just be the least hindered by switching sides - Ballard is an outright disaster, Garrison has said he's just not comfortable there, I don't know about Hamhuis but who keeps KB3 grounded if not him?Larry Goodenough wrote:I'm not sure what to think of Edler on the right side. Given it's fairly commonplace for left-shooting defenseman whose bread and butter is their offensive contribution to play the right (like Christian Ehrhoff, Brian Campbell, etc) I'm willing to let the experiment play out and see what happens - not that I have a choice of course.
But if Edler doesn't show signs of progressing this season, or even worse if his confidence takes a hit and his game goes through the floor, then I think when the offseason rolls around and it's time to get rid of Keith Ballard, you have to go out and find an every day player who can play that side - then you go with Hamhuis/Garrison/Edler down the left and Bieksa/Tanev/whoever down the right.
Of couse that's not an easy task, Philly had to give up JVR to get Luke Schenn just to have a single right-side defender.

How many times did the Canucks hit the goal posts last night?? 5 or 6? As bad as they were, with a bit of luck the Canucks could have easily won the game.
Re: GDT: Jan 27 - Canucks @ Sharks 5:00PM PST SNET-P
5....dont know about easily, we played pretty shitty for the most part...would have been a bit different for sure though with some puck luckJovocop wrote:How many times did the Canucks hit the goal posts last night?? 5 or 6?
