So uhh, Honzik is on quite the little run.. Scrolling through the thread it looks like a few appearances in a row with just one or two goals allowed.

A glimmer of hope for a turnaround - Honzik has had to overcome off-season shoulder surgery and being traded to one of the worst temas in the QMJHL... you are right about his last three appearances:dbr wrote:So uhh, Honzik is on quite the little run.. 15 saves on 16 shots in relief of Bureau in a loss
32 saves on 33 shots in a SO loss
25 saves on 26 shots in a win
The wins will be hard to come by in Cape Breton, but it seems like Honzik may be rounding into the form that originally got him drafted. Just in time, too, because the Canucks will have to decide whether he is worth a contract before the 2013 draft.

Thursday Jan 24
QMJHL
Quebec 4 Cape Breton 1
Honzik 28 saves on 31 shots (selected 2nd star)
Hahaha - when you lose 4-1 (one EN goal) and have your goalie selected as a star of the game, I think that pretty much tells you a lot about the team.

Gaunce with 17 points in 10 games. Kid could be a pretty fair player one day. Jensen having a nice year in Sweden, Corrado having a great year and got screwed hard not making the WJrs, Kassian taking the bull by the horns......yes this team will be downright awful in a few seasons. Edler and Schneider are old, Hansen and Tanev are greybeards. What a mess of a team.

Yeah Gaunce has had a very nice turn around after his slow start.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Gaunce with 17 points in 10 games. Kid could be a pretty fair player one day. You're right the trio of first rounders (Kassian, Gaunce, Jensen) all seem to be progressing towards becoming quality top 9's. The defense and goal tending also look to be in good shape long term.
The main worry for Canuck fans should be the lack of high end offensive players to replace the Twins. We have a few years to find those guys, but it's pretty difficult to add them when you aren't picking in the top5.

Kassian and Jensen *could* turn out to be high end offensive players!Potatoe1 wrote: The main worry for Canuck fans should be the lack of high end offensive players to replace the Twins. Hoping Roberto returns a young centre prospect with offensive upside... or a 1st round pick.
But yeah, we should have 4-5 years of Hank and Kess as #1, #2 so.....

They certainly need 1 - 2 dynamic forwards. Maybe they can get one via the Lui trade. Other than that we are pretty much in agreementPotatoe1 wrote:Yeah Gaunce has had a very nice turn around after his slow start.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Gaunce with 17 points in 10 games. He was injured for much of the first part of the season, hence no call to the WJC camp.Potatoe1 wrote:Yeah Gaunce has had a very nice turn around after his slow start.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

Kid shoots the shit out of the puck from what I've seen with a quick release. Big guy , can be physical, bit of a loping stride but he will get quicker. I think this guy could be a fucking gem. About time.Topper wrote:He was injured for much of the first part of the season, hence no call to the WJC camp.Potatoe1 wrote:Yeah Gaunce has had a very nice turn around after his slow start.

Re: Prospects Thread 2012-13
Gaunce (18), Jensen (19), and Corrado (19) definitely seem like they could become competent NHLers - and Jensen seems like he could elevate to maybe even a Loui Eriksson- type level.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Gaunce with 17 points in 10 games. Other prospects with an outside chance?
Hutton (19), Labate (19), Mallet (20), McNally (21), Andersson (21), Price (22), Tommernes (22), and Connauton (22)
(Funny, they're mostly defencemen)
Not to mention the "youngsters" already in the NHL:
Kassian (22) is at least a 3rd liner the way he is playing right now, and has basically unlimited potential.
Tanev (23) is at least a bottom pairing defenceman
Weise (24) is already an NHL 4th liner.
Other Canucks 28 or under?
Garrison (28), Booth (28), Lapierre (27), Volpatti (27), Raymond (27), Hansen (26), Schneider (26), Edler (26)
I don't think the Canucks are too bad off --- but sure, they could definitely use a sure-thing offensive forward prospect.

fyp... people like RD are so negative that they convey the energy to pretty much anything. There are drugs for these cats. Canucks NEED to acquire a couple high end forwards in the next 2 - 4 years preferably on the young side. Characters like RD make it seem like the team is a bunch of old geezers. He would be wrong........as usual.Southern_Canuck wrote:Gaunce (18), Jensen (19), and Corrado (19) definitely seem like they could become competent NHLers - and Jensen seems like he could elevate to maybe even a Loui Eriksson- type level.Blob Mckenzie wrote:Gaunce with 17 points in 10 games. Beer Bellies. I like Kassian, Gaunce, Jensen and Corrado. We got some good young pieces in Edler, Schneider, Tanev, decent middle agers in Garrison, Hansen, Raymond. Hamhius gotta lotta hockey in him. We just need some more top end talent to go with what we already have.Blob Mckenzie wrote:fyp... people like RD are so negative that they convey the energy to pretty much anything.
