Well, yeah, that's wikipedia for you.
Some moron has replaced the official numbers with numbers from a suicide research report, which includes uncertain cases. The official figures for 2011 are 16.5 per 100,000 for men and 6.8 for women. Can't calculate the combined figure, since it should be weighted and I don't have time to look it up, but unweighted it would be 11.8. Will try to fix the wikipedia site when I have time.
Guess the 30th place in the list is for the 2008 WHO figures, but the trend is dropping in Sweden, so that figure was probably slightly higher.
Just have to point out though that most of the figures reported are incorrect. Suicides are heavily underreported, and especially in Catholic and Muslim countries. Do you really believe that there was not a single suicide in eg Jordan and Honduras?
Suicide carries a strong social stigma in catholic/muslim countries and therefor the official cause of death tends to be listed as accident, to spare their families. I mean, people who commit suicide aren't even allowed to be buried in hallowed ground according to church tradition.
I do believe most OECD countries give fairly accurate figures (although I'm a bit sceptical of the figures presented by Greece, Mexico and Italy) which is why I thought that comparisson was more relevant than including all the obvious bullshit figures from the highly religious third world. But whatever.

Tongue in cheek of course, as twas my preceding post, but you knew that....
I know you secretly admire us, but just keep telling yourself whatever gets you through the day.
