this is the problem. but what about on res lands? I got family in Kelowna, Westbank, ironically enough. Anyway the WFN there wants to build a for profit private hospital that would or might contravene the Canadian healthcare act.. The legality of which no one seems to know. Its on res lands so they can build what they damn well please and they have the money from all the development along Hwy 97.

The group I work with politely declines the blackmail letter demanding a fee to review our notice of work applications.

We will however, as we do for all stakeholders, pay reasonable expenses to meet with them to discuss the project. We also discuss employment possibilities and other opportunities they may have in participating in the project. At the same time we make it very clear that employment and other opportunities are based upon performance and competitiveness.

We have hired a few Indians who have been great employees and we have offered them jobs on other projects throughout BC and the Yukon. Unfortunately the majority of the Indians we hire feel a sense of entitlement and are less than willing to earn their paychecks and usually are not even willing to show up for work on a daily basis. Sadly the ratio of deadbeats to workers that we find is around 50 to 1.

I'm sure you will not be surprised to know the best Indian employees we have made a decision years ago to leave the reserve and the socioeconomic nightmare the reserve system fosters.
