Was there an ulterior motive for posting that here? Its cute but...
But what? I know it's Topper but you might be reading to much into why he posted this.

It looks as though the Preds help sponsor those kids judging by the shoulder logos. Even though they aren't playing they are maintaining their commitment and trying to grow their fan base.

The lockout is doing damage, the Preds are trying to mitigate that.

Or I just completely missed why Topper posted that, wouldn't be the first time

NHL salaries since Bettman took over as commish ( 1993 ) have gone from 580,000 a year to 2.4 million.. and NHL total revenue has gone up to 3 Billion from 400 million.. So , maybe Gary should drop his drawers at center ice and the players could line up to kiss his butt? or just maybe he has fulfilled his commitment to "grow the game" and the owners can line up? Even if as Dogsalmon says .......................... ( waiting for it )

Personal note.. When I started watching the Nucks play (1970) average NHL salaries were 18,000.. about the same as I made a year..

I'm sponsoring RD's sister in Movember. Could cost me a fortune.

Yes Aaron, it is just a feel good story, like the Canuck's management still showing up for raise a reader or Bieksa organizing a charity game.

Among the vitriol us fans are saying about the NHL and NHLPA and what the League and the player are saying about each other, some of these folks still care about the fan.

Considering the king of economy I just wandered if there was more to it than the heart warming part.
Although I do have to admit Nashville is my favourite illegitimate franchise ;)

So it sounds like the players really did make a proposal which included linkage to real revenue and not a fixed cap number.

If that is the case then I suspect we will see real progress and hopefully a salvaged season.

There is a link to real $'s in year 2-5 of the players offer in that the actual pool of HHR can not go down from the previous year.

They refuse to admit, HHR may decrease.

I've already told all of my family I don't want anything NHL related for Christmas or even the foreseeable future. I know I can't be the only one. Season ticket holders may be replaced by the next guy in line but I can do my part and not support this nonsense. I will probably watch games when they lace em up again but I certainly won't be contributing to HRR in any way for a long time.

I really hope when they pull the pin on the season that they do not have a weighted lottery for the 2013 draft. 30 teams, 30 balls, not 3 balls for teams like the leaves, Flames and Coilers because they sucked shit for the last three years, and 1 ball for the teams who actually made the playoffs.

Nobody in their right mind can predict what would have happened had there been a season this year. The Canucks could have gotten ravaged with injuries and sold off all their UFAs at the deadline and finished in last. To have a weighted lottery based on what happened from 2009-12 with ZERO regard to the cancelled season except a guess is disingenous and bush league but then again it is the NHL so anything is possible.
