They give 3 proposals all based around the "unlinked" system they proposed in their first offer. They know full well that the owners will never give up linkage so the reality is that they are not prepared to negotiate any type of give backs from the previous cba.

Right now it is virtually a given that a significant portion of the season will be missed.

Yep. The "PR battle" is totally overblown (and it seems like Fehr doesn't care at all to take part in it), but even despite their focus group leak the NHL have done well to back the PA into a corner in that regard this week.

That being said if you step back from that, so far the NHL have come more than halfway back from their initial proposal to the PA while the PA's "best" offer still doesn't even involve a hard cap or direct linkage.

I'm sure that's bettman's wish is for everyone to believe he did his best before losing the season as if he and his position are victims on all this. Hopefully more will think like I do and that he and Jacobs and his ilk are just full of shit.

The equitable solution is out there, with no need for the pressure tactics or gun boat diplomacy.
