It is a toss up whether you need more hockey skill to get your number retired by the Canucks or music talent/influence to get into the RRRHOF.rats19 wrote:shirley you jest...Topper wrote:Deep Purple further cheapens the RRHOF.

NHLPA flips Gary the bird.
They give 3 proposals all based around the "unlinked" system they proposed in their first offer. They know full well that the owners will never give up linkage so the reality is that they are not prepared to negotiate any type of give backs from the previous cba.
Right now it is virtually a given that a significant portion of the season will be missed.
Down Goes Brown @DownGoesBrown
Still can't figure out which Gary Bettman orifice the NHLPA's fourth offer involves.

excerpt:Take a band like Deep Purple. Thirty-eight years since they first appeared, they are still recording and touring, although the face of the band has changed numerous times. They remain one of the greatest pioneering hard rock bands of all time. Do the individuals voting in this not recognize Ritchie Blackmore as one the greatest guitar players in history, likewise Ian Gillan vocally? Is it because they were labeled heavy metal? Does In Rock still sound too heavy 36 years later? If anyone wants to argue that hall members Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers have added more significance to music than Deep Purple, then that person is a sick, pathetic human being.

Re: There will be a strike
I bet it takes about 4 to 5 hours for the media and general public to switch back to the owners side.
If the Players simply re-hashed their previous offer it will be seen as a refusal to negotiate and more stone walling.
Not that I think public opinion is all that relevant.

Re: There will be a strike
Yep. The "PR battle" is totally overblown (and it seems like Fehr doesn't care at all to take part in it), but even despite their focus group leak the NHL have done well to back the PA into a corner in that regard this week.Potatoe1 wrote:I bet it takes about 4 to 5 hours for the media and general public to switch back to the owners side.

That being said if you step back from that, so far the NHL have come more than halfway back from their initial proposal to the PA while the PA's "best" offer still doesn't even involve a hard cap or direct linkage.

Something that actually matters.
We all loathe Gary Bettman,
Leadership very borderli-ine.
Pissing off the NHL rank and file,
It sure ain't hockeytime.
Donald Fe-ehr and the players,
Were no better all around,
Bunch of assholes and their big guns,
Burn the league to the ground.
Smoke down at Rogers, Nucks Cup chances die.
Smoke down at Rogers...

Only detail Bettman provided was that the player's proposal included an increased share of HRR in year 1 ...

Re: There will be a strike
I'm sure that's bettman's wish is for everyone to believe he did his best before losing the season as if he and his position are victims on all this. Hopefully more will think like I do and that he and Jacobs and his ilk are just full of shit.Potatoe1 wrote:I bet it takes about 4 to 5 hours for the media and general public to switch back to the owners side.

The equitable solution is out there, with no need for the pressure tactics or gun boat diplomacy.
Re: There will be a strike
The players just became little lighter in the wallets with this move. Their choice.Potatoe1 wrote:Michael Grange @michaelgrange

This here's a story about Donny Fehr and Gary B
Two smart fuckers with nothin' better to do
Than sit around the house, get rich, and wreck the league
And here is what happened when they had too much greed
They headed down to, ooh, old El Paso
That's where they ran into a great big hassle
Donny Fehr shot a man while robbing his castle
Gary B took the money and run
Go on take the money and run
Go on take the money and run
Go on take the money and run
Go on take the money and run
