It comes down to simple mathematics. The pure value of that franchise to the city of Dallas and what they mean to it. I mean, it ain't fucking rocket science, if said franchise is the 3rd richest franchise in the FUCKING WORLD and said franchise wants a new MEGA stadium in your city, then you pretty much say 'How Much Would You Like, Sir'.

In a more personal question though why the hate on for the CFL? I get that some Canadian football fans prefer the American game, it's smaller field and 4 downs make for a harder hitting slower paced intense game.
I get that some would be attracted to the hype of the NFL machine and fall for the Hollywood factor.

I don't like the CFL. I have always thought it was an inferior product . The ocean sized endzone, the fact you can win a game by missing a field goal, the officiating, and the fact 75 % of the teams make the playoffs pretty much make it a bush league imho.

Yep there's nothing better than watching an NFL game with the new placement of the ball for kickoffs ten yards ahead and the ultimate kick through the small end-zone resulting in a touch-back. Now thats exciting. The result is we get to watch the touchdown and convert then break to a commercial, watch the said kick-off go through the end-zone then break for a commercial and then watch them start from the 20. Talk about bush league. No I'll take the CFL anyday.

It's the fucking Dallas Cowboys alright, they are as household as Coca Cola, 3RD RICHEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. Think of it as something like how our government gives tax breaks to the local film industry to keep it competitive with other film centers around the world, the sheer amount of full time, high paying jobs in the film industry makes giving tax breaks do that industry 'GOOD BUSINESS'. The Dallas Cowboys are like a giant billboard to the world for the city of Dallas. Who, outside of a few thousand BC'ers and staunch Canadian Football League enthusiasts across Canada give a rats ass, or have even heard of the BC Lions? Nobody

No offense to your beloved CFL, Uk. But the CFL is a minor league sport for American football players not good enough for the NFL. It doesn't justify a 700 million reno to BC Place. Don't complain about one franchise, the Oilers, seeking public funding help for a new Stadium, yet be accepting of BC taxpayers footing the bill of a $700 million reno when Greg Kerfoot was begging to build a stadium for the Caps and Lions with his own money, and not one red cent from the taxpayers. Enough with the double standards here. The right thing for this city to do should have been us bending over backwards in finding land for Kerfoot to build this so called stadium he wanted to build if everyone is so up in arms about taxpayers coughing up dough for sports facilities for privately owned teams to play in.

Well keep this in mind, that money did not come from the state of Texas, it came from the city of Arlington. I'm ignorant of local politics in that part of the world but I strongly suspect that $300m might have sealed the deal to have Cowboys Stadium built in Arlington rather than say, Dallas proper or Fort Worth or Plano or what have you.

Basically, the Cowboys could move any number of places other than Arlington (and still be called the "Dallas Cowboys") and the City of Arlington would have lost out, bigtime.

Just because a league is based in the US or Canada doesn't mean preferring one over another has anything whatsoever to do with the country itself.

These are private, corporate entities that offer football in two widely different ways, and the preference for one over the other has sweet fuck all to do with the country the league is in.
