Ratski, that list is linked in the OP, it's wot started all this! :P

I can't stop picturing Chelios + Suter with the Hawks in the 90's.

Prolly the most intimidating top pairing in the history of the NHL!

Chelly had enough brains for the both of them.....

Well their list is a joke amongst fans of ALL teams apparently (there's a thread at HF).

In particular the placing of Messier, Crosby, and Doan are drawing alotta  's.

It's not just us big guy....

Clarke was a lot like Mario Tremblay they did their best fighting when a linesman or a team mate ran iterferance. :D Remember Haryy Neal saying to Clarke during a bench clearing brawl at the Pacific Coluseum...Clake paired up with Thomas Gradin. Harry Neal said to him how long did it take you to find Gradin :D Man those games used to go on for ever
cheers

Doc I started watching hockey as a 6 year old in 75-76........I can't comment on anyone before then. I will go with what I have seen as the top leaders of their teams over the years

Steve Yzerman
Denis Potvin
Wayne Gretzky
Larry Robinson
Joe Sakic
Chris Chelios
Mario Lemieux
Nik Lidstrom
Bryan Trottier
Ron Francis

Honorable mention..... Daryl Sittler, Lanny Macdonald, Bobby Clarke, Mark Messier, Ray Bourque,Scott Stevens,Al MAcInnis, Bernie Parent, Bobby Orr.......only remember Canada Cup 76 and the Hawks days.
Tell me how my ass tastes.

Hard to argue against anyone on that list. I suppose Lidstrom learned a thing or two about captaining from Stevie!

Obviously I hate you for not including Clarkie.

... unless you give him honourable mention.

Disagree about Mess & Big Al, both of them were MAJOR party animals. Partying is okay to an extent, but these two are alcoholcs in my books. Both of them were assholes, but the wrong kind of asshole imo. Both of them had run-ins with other leaders everywhere they went. I just flat out hate the two of them, but to each their own Blobster.

I like your Lanny Macdonald mention. One of the great unsung leaders ever methinks.

10-Cup Cournoyer may be another, although I personally was never much of a Habs fan

(unless they were playing the Leaves).

And I'm not going to argue against Parent, buddy stood on his head both years The Bullies won the Cup.
