Clearly Doans lifestyle and living arrangements in Phoenix is a huge leap from what we would denote as big city.
The point is clear, I don't understand the discussion.

Re: Shane Doan
So according to Doan's agent he is now starting the process of narrowing down his choice of teams. He wants to be able to tell teams he is not interested in that he is not interested so they can move forward. He wants to try to have a short list 4-6 teams by the beginning of the week and if Phoenix is a no go he will entertain offers/counter offers and make a choice.
So we still have to wait for this to drag out into next week but we should know soon enough if we are on his hit list. If not we can move forward with whatever.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Best find a good distraction then.
Serious CBA negotiations haven't begun.

http://ow.ly/coCi5Unrestricted free-agent right wing Shane Doan, the 35-year-old captain of the Phoenix Coyotes team that advanced to last season's Western Conference finals, visited with the Rangers on Friday, the Daily News has confirmed.
Gillis, Gilman and possibly 'the let them figure it out' AV coach could be of use here with this now veteran like team to meet and hopefully land Doan, this is a better possibility compared to JS. As with the unproven Schultz, a youngster who doesn't know shit about the NHL except it would be 'so cool' to play with young guns in the crap town in Edmonton, wasn't the best case scenario to get him at this time.
Doan here with the Canucks makes a lot sense as we have a veteran team, a cup contender, familiarity with Gilman, wifey family located in Kamloops with lots of ranches in BC to raise his horses, a west coast team, can play with with uber twins or kesler, superb chance to help a team win the cup and will get paid pretty good! = lots of pluses for Doan to play here.

I read somewhere he told Carolina they are out of the running so they can get on with their lives.
Hopefully God tells Shane to sign with your Vancouver Canucks!

Nothing new. He was very non committal and really didn't divulge anything. My buddy never really broached the subject, not the right time and place to be nosy. All he heard was what is already in the public domain. Doan will let teams know ASAP if he is not interested and the rest will have to be patient a little longer but if at all possible he wants to return to Phoenix and still wants to make that work.
