It's a great day for hockey!
Re: Northwest Division In/Out Thread
Calgary is dumb they could have sold off assets, and pull a Edm draft#1 overalls everywhere and then some.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: Northwest Division In/Out Thread
Man - amazing how much Cam Barker's stock has fallen. I remember when he was a pretty hot prospect a few years back.
Re: Northwest Division In/Out Thread
Colorado looks like the winner on personnel changes so far .
Parenteau & Duchene could be good.
Will be interesting to see how it works out.

Sounds like Minny is close on Parise....

Yep. Gotta wait for the sweepstakes to end before we chime in on this winner winner chicken dinner stuff.black ace wrote:Sounds like Minny is close on Parise....
FTR, if MIN lands Parise, they could become a real pain real quick.
If they manage to land both Parise and freaking Suter, ouch.
edit: huh, just saw everyone discussing pretty much this in the other thread. Seems like we're all agreed that MIN+Parise+Suter=bad juju for Canucks.

Calgary is at best a contender for 8th.
I don't know much about Cervenka, but even though Backlund struggled, he still has some upside, and that Bartschi kid has potential too.
The absolute best case scenario for Calgary to be more competitive than fighting for 8th, is that Backlund and Bartschi break out big time.
It's rather obvious the Flames lack a top-end C and another elite scorer.
I think Bouwmeester has some trade value, but he's not going to net Calgary a top flight young player or prospect. Honestly, I think they should keep him, because he eats up a lot of minutes effectively, even if he's not doing anything extraordinary. If they drop him, who is going to play those minutes?
I don't like that they have $12M tied in Bouwmeester and Wideman, but I don't think they can do any better if they move Bouwmeester.
Unless Backlund, Bartschi and another defenceman turn out to be top players, this team will continue to tread water and finish between 8-11 with a first round exit at best.

Great. Parise AND Suter both coming to the Northwest - that's got to get Minnesota in the playoffs.
Definitely a dramatic improvement for the Minnesota lineup, although we'll see if they have enough depth.
