Thrilling hockey. Jersey gets 4 shots in the 1st and 3 shots in the third. Makes one long for the days when Lemaire coached this team. At least they usually broke the 20 shot/game barrier.

Yeah it's a shame to pretty much give the Cup away like that. Don't think we can blame the refs for that call, though. If it was a penalty (and I think it was) the violence of the hit and resulting injury means it's automatically a major.

Too bad, he's played well for the Devils so far, from what I've seen. That's a terrible penalty to take and the ref's made the correct call.

Welp.. is this game over?

Methinks it is.

A real shame how this one wrapped up. I was hoping for game 7.

under no circumstances was that a 5 minute major...not in a Stanley Cup elimination game...never ever ever...goddamn bad call as Scuderi turned into the hit...2 minutes is fine...5 is NHL reffing at its worst...almost as bad as Brett Hull's case of foot in crease...

Congratz to Willie Mitchell and his long stick.

I think the forecast calls for snow tonight in LA.

Kind've a shame the way that one started out. If the refs call Stoll's hit from behind on Gionta then Bernier doesn't have the opportunity to hit Scuderi. Unreal how the officiating shapes the game. If they consistently called shit, they would prevent more shit from happening. I could see if it was behind the play and not on the puck.....but Gionta played the puck and then was hit late from behind by Stoll. Classic Stoll. Classic NHL. Brutal.

But yes.....stoked for Mitchell.
