EDR???

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

During the German invasion of the Soviet Union, Sweden allowed the Wehrmacht to use Swedish railways to transport (June–July 1941) the 163rd Infantry Division along with howitzers, tanks and anti-aircraft weapons and associated ammunition, from Norway to Finland. German soldiers traveling on leave between Norway and Germany were allowed passage through Sweden — the so-called permittenttrafik. Iron ore was sold to Germany throughout the war.
The Third Reich must of been shaking in their boots at the thought of Swedish men carrying guns protecting the borders. Image

But you guy's weren't all bad. You also helped the Allies when you thought it would be in you're best interest.

By voting in the next general election.
Voting? seriously?
holy shit I know you can read so I know you know what has preceded virtually every totalitarian government in modern history.
Elections are a mug's game at best and an absolute raping of the truth at its worst. Who you gonna vote for? The guy on the right that wants to stack the deck for himself and his cronies, or the woman on the left who wants to stack the deck for herself and her cronies? actually it doesn't matter much because in four years we will have the illusion of democracy to "bamboozle" us all, all over again.
Don't get me wrong I am not stocking soup cans in my basement and waiting for the apocalypse, I am just saying that the establishment already holds most of the cards and I am unwilling to give them the last ace in the game.

Uhm... Why would they have done that? Except perhaps for the 2% or so that voted for the Nazis, of course.
Well lets just assume that there were a few Swedes who didn't like taking it up the ass from the Nazi's and would have done something about it if they had the chance.

How very hawkish, however, who controls those guns? Are they locked up in armories somewhere? who has the key, a Minister of national defense, or some other government lackey?

I agree on rifles and shot guns, but why do we need hand guns?

You can hunt and protect yourself from Barack Obama better with a big gun then a small one.

I dont have the stats but my guess is that the vast majority of the gun related homicides are related to hand guns which don't seem to have any purpose other then to kill people.

I am betting that 100 percent of all homicides whether committed with handguns or not are related to people who don't give a damn about laws ...

Gun control laws keep guns out of the hands of responsible, law abiding citizens, just the sort of people we DONT want having guns!

Defense, that's the only reason. In your home mostly (from the people that don't value human life).

When I first moved to the states, my landscaper was asking about Canadian gun laws. He was mentioning that he has a conceal carry permit (handgun). He had been held up 3 times with his payroll money - each time he got to keep it. That's really the only reason to keep handguns around. A lot of people keep them at home for security.

If a criminal wants a handgun to use in a crime, it's likely not going to be registered to him.

Defending yourself from other people with hand guns :).

Just get rid of them all.

As for the home, a rifle works just fine, especially when their are far fewer hand guns floating around.

I used to be licensed and carry a permitted handgun (.44 Mag Redhawk) in the bush for protection from wildlife. I would do so again if I spent more time out traversing and less time in project management. When I lived abroad, maintaining permits became nearly impossible and I sold the gun.

A rifle or shotgun is too cumbersome to cleanly carry in the bush while working and is not quickly accessible enough in case of emergency.

I was asked if I wanted to get a gun and carry permit when i lived in Jamaica. I said no, I may use it. The biggest reason though, is you suddenly become a target of those who want your gun.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

IMHO the issue in America isn't hand guns!

The United States is easily the Richest country in the world. GDP - $14,660,000,000,000!!!

The top 1%, 3,000,000 people of 300,000,000 hold 33.8% of the countyries wealth. The 90th through 99%, 30,000,000 people hold 37.7%

Combined the top 10% controll 71.5% of the nations wealth!

The rich take it all and the poor are fucked!

Just give us McDonalds and American Idol, and we're happy, right? :?

I used to get into a LOT of heated discussions when I moved down here. Now I just don't bother. The government and media have done an awesome job with the left/right - red/blue - liberal/conservative split that these poor bastards don't see the rich/poor split. It's a mess.

I'd say that pretty much fact Donny. 33 million people control 70% of the countries wealth while 150+ million people fight to get a piece of 2.5%.

The wealthy have to pay more... bottom line. And not to build fucking football stadiums in another city. Fuck the Riders and their fans wanting...err expecting the Province to pony up for a new stadium. I'm talking about the top 10% giving more to the bottom 90% so they have access adequate health care and a shot at an education. Otherwise they don’t really have an option do they. Sell drugs, end up in prison or dead.

Yep, sell them the lie that you too will one day achieve the "American Dream". And when you do, you won't want have to have to help give hand out's to a bunch of free-loaders! You just keep working hard and before you know it... you'll have it all.

It's amazing! We've been talking about pitchforks here at ol CC when it comes to Luongo. I can't believe people are so... you know, I wont say it! Tax the fuck out of them.... Mark Zuckerberg is worth 17.5 BILLION. You could tax him 50% and he'd still have more money than he could spend in three life times. More money than poorest 120 million people in America combined! Re-distribute the wealth....

You mean, fucking Socialist!

Anyway, off topic but there’s your problem IMO. Guns, even handguns aren’t the issue. A 100 million people living in poverty is the problem.
