Ummmm name calling is not necessary Spidey! I know we don't see eye to eye on the global warming issue but seriously, it's time to grow up dude.

Why, what ever do you mean? Seriously, fatherhood has made you dull and dullard, try to stay on topic willya, Luo is done and donner, he had his time, he failed to be the Captain and lead this team to the final victory that so many other true leader/less egotistical goalies have done before....not to mention cheating on his wife (allegedly), how can we trust a man that can't even keep his sacred wedding vows?! :eh:

I heard that once in the off season he approached a group of teenage girls and tried to show them his big knob on the end of his stick.

Lou stole all three victories against Boston in the Final...it's a shame when the only way you can win is if your goalie gets 3 shutouts in a a Stanley Cup Final...he got two.

Lou also stole Game 7 against Chicago, the team gets a PP in the final minutes of the game, up 1-0 and they can't even play keep away to ensure Chi doesn't get a chance - I thought the Canucks are suppose to be a puck possession team. Then he makes that save on Patrick Sharp - which I thought was a good save when I saw it live, but going back to you tube and seeing it again, it was a brilliant save up high with Sharp wide open in front of the net.

Tampa Bay scored 21 goals against Boston in 6 games, the Canucks scored 8 in 6 games (both were shutout in game 7) - Do the math.

8-6 =2 Oh that's right, two as in the 2 games Roberto lost the games for us singlehandedly...other teams goalies Roy, Parent, have stood on their heads and stole games for their teams and became Conn Smythe winners in the process, you know, where the 'tender is CONSISTENTLY GOOD and doesn't have bad games once in a while the STC Finals...Luo is not that goalie...Cory is :D

Maybe we can trade some Canuck fans to the Leafs with RL if they love him so much 8-)

I wonder what Burrows market price would be? 4 mill?

Moreover, will Burrows be Burrows without the Sedins?

Depends on the asking price, maybe yeah, it's time to let him go.

I would give gim max. 3 and that's a little bit overpaid imo. Everything more is crazy but that's what market prices are sometimes.

I would think with the cap being as high as it is now Gillis will budget more than 3 mill for Burrows. This isn't just a 20 goal scorer, he plays valuable minutes on the PK and he can contribute with either of our top 2 centermen or play a shutdown role on the 3rd line. You don't just throw away a versatile guy like Burrows when he has already taken a hometown discount for 4 seasons when the cap was lower.

Agreed. Considering his contract was signed with only one decent season under his belt it there wasn't too much of a risk bcs even if his offensive abilities dried up he could easily still be a third liner with more intangibles than say, Hansen (at the time).

$3.5 cap hit, three yrs.

If I were Burrows, I would have been real pissed at the deal Raymond got two years ago.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

:o I heard that too, apparently they screamed and ran off in all directions laughing, yelling 'you can go behind your net and try and play with it, try not to hurt yourself'

Hockey Widow wrote:On AV:

Wants to come back.... The players are big AV supporters and want him back. A feeling of unfinished business. WOW.

He's a good coach and if the players still feel they can learn from and play for him there is no need to replace him. However, extension or not he is on a shorter leash.

On Luongo:

Toronto is the front runner, for now. Allaire is the draw that has Luongo putting them on his list that does not exist. The cost will be high as MG does have 3 other teams that are also very high on Luongo but MG wants to try and deal Luongo to one of his top two choices, not at the risk of a bad deal, however.

Toronto better be interested. They need a real solution in net not another dice roll. Burke's job is on the line this upcoming season. He needs the goaltending solidified now and for the foreseeable future.

Kassian:

Players love him and feel he is the real deal.

Good to hear. And he certainly has the tools. needs his fitness level to come up and I think with that fitness his consistency will be much better.

Hodgson:

Not missed

As much as the Hodgson camp would like to say the things they talked about never trickled down to the locker room it is not a realistic assumption. If people are spending an inordinate amount of time around the team and in meetings with the team the players have to know about it. That gets players interested and talking etc etc etc

Salo:

Wants to come back one more year. Canucks have said the same thing to him as last year, we want you back but we have to wait to see what we can afford over the summer.

As the 6/7 guy fine. But AV needs to stop using him 20+ minutes a night.

Burrows:

Took a home team discount last time with no regrets but won't this time around. Wants to re-sign but at full market value or he will go to UFA.

nor should he take anything less this time around IMO. Luckily, we aren't talking $5 mil a year but rather in the 3-3.5 mil range which is certainly possible for the canucks.

Manny:

Canucks are unsure whether he can regain his form and he may be bought out if he can't. They are very non comital about him but will not go into the season with him if he has not improved his all round game.

Well they are committed to the point of him being under contract. He either makes the team or gets waived before the season begins. That's fair and I suspect Manny would agree it is fair.

MayRay:

Still up in the air if they qualify him. Don't feel he is worth the money he would make but don't want to lose an asset for nothing. Will try to move his rights before July 1.

Try to move him certainly. If you can't I think you do qualify him (they could make it a two way qualifier so cheap AHL salary i believe). He can accept the qualifier all he wants or negotiate a more appropriate deal and prove himself. IMO I think he gets moved. perhaps as an addition to a Luongo/Schneider deal.

Pahlsson:

Are very high on him and would like him back as their third line centre, which could mean another nail for Manny.

Down on the Farm:

They are expecting 2-4 players to make an impact at camp......

You don't worry about Malhotra...if he finds his game he can play any forward position and is easy to slot in. I can see them planning to go into the season with Pahlsson (or similar) and Schroeder as the 3/4 guys down the middle. Schroeder has spent the last year learning the defensive side of the game and has done a good job from what the organization is saying. Unlike Cody, he has the speed to translate these learnings to the NHL right now.

Are you referring to game 3 where the Canucks scored 1 goal? Ok, there you have your 3rd shutout and a Canucks Cup.

Maybe it was Game 4 where the Canucks scored ZERO goals? Maybe they could have gotten one in OT, but then again, there is your 3rd shutout and a Canucks Cup.

Or Perhaps it was Game 5 - right, That was Lou's 2nd Shutout (which he had to get as the team only scored ONE GOAL) so obviously not that game - BTW, if you recall he needed that Shutout he got in Game 1 too because all the team could manage was 1 goal.

Hmmm, Game 6? Well the Canucks did score 2 goals with the last one coming in the final 2 minutes of the game (so really, that could have been an empty netter if Lou had SHUTOUT BOSTON FOR THE FIRST 58 MINUTES OF THE GAME)

Finally, Game 7 - again, maybe, just maybe, if Luongo had a SHUTOUT going into OT, they would have won the series.

Which 2 games are you referring to?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this does not happen.

There is an unapproachability, an arrogance, to Luongo that (along with his flashes of odd play) polarizes his existence here.

I'm gonna say Schneiders level headed demeanor and on ice coolness buys him out of the goalie graveyard game in Vancouver.

We had a monster thread at old CC when Lou was acquired.

I remember quite a few folk repeating much along the lines of your last sentence ^there^.

How soon we forget, Lou once seemed like the sanest guy on the team.

Hell not that long ago they made him captain.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: ALL goaltenders are whackos!

The pitchfork-toting Canuck villagers will bring the to the surface the lunatic in ole Carrot Top.

Eventually.

Same as it ever was.

Donny, we MUST type the Dmen on the proper sides!

He clearly has his issues but has played extremely well for us in his tenure here. If he wants to stay and win a cup then it should be Schneids we shop.

If Luo is dealt however it is because he wants to be moved for likely more than one reason.

Can you imagine keeping Luo and having him play for us if he doesn't really want to be here. The choice between a relatively unproven Scheids and a possibly very disinterested Luo is a no brainer.

Good post.

The call should be completely up to Lou at this point.

Anything less would be uncivilized.

I have a bad feeling about Ginger. I know he's got lots n lots of talent. I know he'll get there just like Quick seems to have gotten there.

Using Quick as an example (the dudes are carbon copies, played against each other in high school) is it's taken Quick three and a half seasons as a number one to "get it"! This is Quicks 3rd playoff run as a starter and he's still not proven shit because he's only half way there!

This is what freaks me out! Our window is (this) ________ and history tells us the vast majority of young goaltenders require (this) ____________________________________ until they're able to put it all together. I think Schneider will be a star (perhaps even superstar) goaltender in the NHL. I think there's a real good chance... he'll be peaking when the rest of the team has taken a step back!

I wonna win the friggen cup NOW!
BTW, NOT A FLAME ... JUST AN OBSERVATION ... :P

So, does this mean that the team is looking for the 3rd line to be the shut-down line? To take the pressure and hard minutes away from Kesler? You could certainly make the case for that change - especially given Kesler's banged-up body. But then the pressure would really be on the 2nd line to produce! Of course, Pahlsson is UFA, so he may decide to try elsewhere. And, if Pahlsson stays, where does our smurf play?
