If he was playing to his potential = unavailable.
As it stands, we could get Schenn-plus in a Lou trade.
Plays the RS, hits like a truck, sticks up for his mates.
Me likes.
(plus = 5th overall??)
(plus = Colborne??)

Flames fans a screwed for years to come because of this very phenomenon.

Howard and Bryz may not have the confidence of the management and those teams might want to jump on this rare opportunity. Although Fleury has won a cup, his most recent playoff performance makes Cloutier's playoff record look good.
Canuck-One wrote:I disagree with your goalie assessments. Thomas is already 38 and Kipper will be 36 when the season starts. Both of them are not going to last much longer at the top. Price might be your choice as a top 'tender but he's not one of mine and Elliot, once again sorry but I disagree.
As for your theory of what teams won't bid for Luo's or Schneider's services, I'm not in agreement with that either. When you only have a short list of top guys, every team will look at what they have and then at what they might have to give up. I still feel that to win the cup you have to have a top guy and that applies to every team. That is of course if they are trying to win.
Island Nucklehead wrote:On CS: How can we call Schneider a top-10 goalie when there is a guy that was better than him in every category (played 5 more games, slightly better Save %, .4 GAA less and 6 more shutouts) this season? If Elliot isn't on that list, Schneider shouldn't be either. I'm okay with that, because neither has proven they can be consistent at that level.

I believe that Bryz would be up for a trade to an alternate universe....

Been there done that. How do you think he got to this universe in the first place?

I bet there are 30 GMs that wouldn't dare put Elliot in the same time zone as CS.

Depending which media puppet is flapping their gums Luongo, Kipper, Thomas and Jonathan Bernier are available. Brodeur is a UFA but let's get real, he ain't playing anywhere but Jersey or a beer league. Not much else on the UFA list (Harding? Vokoun? Turco?).
So I would put Luongo right at the top of that list, depending on who wants what. I can't see Florida wanting a piece of that contract with Markstrom (31st overall, 2008) still in the wings. Thomas might make more sense to them, especially since his NTC/NMC clause expires July 1 (Ditto for Kipper, I believe).
Some teams may be more inclined to go with a guy like Bernier, who would certainly be cheaper than Luongo.
Island Nucklehead wrote:Every team will not be in the running for Luongo. Just because I have an antique sofa valued at $10,000 doesn't mean I can sell it to my neighbour for $10,000. What if he already has a couch? What if my couch is too big for his living room? What if I'm a jealous prick and I don't want him to be comfortable on my couch?! It's not a 30-team race for Luongo, it's probably around 5.
