Does he know that the Leafs have zero interest in Luongo and is therefore sending out the message that Luongo is worth nothing? Does he think it's an impossibility that Luongo will end up being traded to the Leafs? If the Leafs do have interest in Luongo and end up giving a significant return for Luongo without sending a bad contract bad then what was Dreger thinking? He's set up Leafs fans with the expectationthat Luongo can be and should be had for cheap and then Burke pays a handsome price for Luongo? I thought Dreger was on Team Nonis and therefore Team Burke?

A..... conspiracy!!
Hmm if true, the Hockey Gods would be angry, causing the Leaves to suck badly.

Schenn (RH shot, Kelowna Rocket alum) or Gardiner (fits with the Yankee motif we've got going on...hmmmm on second thought) and the 5th overall. Done deal.
I mean, Christ. If Phil Kessel is worth a 2nd, 9th, and 32nd overall pick, Luongo is worth a ton!

Let me guess, use that 5th overall to draft another d-man because this team obviously has no issues with putting the puck in the other teams net

EXACTLY. And as I said earlier, pretty much all of the "pundits" were saying the Jackets would get scraps for Jeff Carter.
Luongo earns his money and odds are he will continue to do so until that contract becomes a non-factor.
Supply and demand.
There aren't many Top Five tenders out there.
I believe in fact there are only five.
