Game 5 playoff elimination - Luo or Ginger?

For the forwards I think having the two goalies will make Canucks an even more attractive place for FA to sign a little less to play for the cup. I personally think Mason Raymond still can be brought back on a 2nd or 3rd line basis for much cheaper (struggles a lot this year but I like to think he is still recovering), probably at the price of a 3rd liner or 4th liner plus he is familiar with the system. Though Manny is expensive for what he does but faceoff specialist during PK is crucial, especially when our offense is not clicking.

To keep Raymond the Canucks have to qualify him which means no pay cut. Failing that he becomes UFA. If they refuse to qualify him and he becomes UFA then I guess he can agree to come back for a huge cut but I wouldn't bet on it. If he gets to UFA someone somewhere will pick him up.
To me you either want him back or you don't. If you do then qualify him and get a one year deal done and if you don't then trade his rights for scraps or just let him walk.

I agree that we will have Manny one more year. He is under contract and can anchor the 4th line, kill penalties and take key face-offs. But I think once this deal is done the only way we have him back is at a rock bottom price. He may have a bounce back year next year once he has a chance to get a full summer of training in and gets more adjusted with the loss of vision in the one eye. Ideally he would get back to the point where he could be our shut down third line centre but if not I'm fine with him on the 4th line.

I agree with HW as I am sure most do too. While Lu was not at fault for the first two games Ginger just outplayed quick. Also the D seemed more aggressive and comfortable with Ginger in net. Wouldn't mind trying Lu out when we get to the second round (not if but when, gotta have faith) since it might be the last few games for him. Really wish we can keep both goalies as they compliments each other but I doubt Lu would want to share his game time and Ginger willing to take a hometown discount as he has yet to make his millions yet.

Schneider will definitely not take a discount if fans and media keep calling him "Ginger" He hates that name, folks.

They have to qualify him first or he becomes UFA. Once qualified there is no way they can argue for a contract less than his qualifying offer.

His near wrap-around in OT is him in a nutshell. He can get to where he wants to be, but he can't make jack shit happen, and usually falls down at the end of it all.

Then I'd try to sign one of C Kelly or McClement possibly Guastad this offseason for the 3rd line center, as we need a reliable 2way guy who can help put up some points unlike Pahlsson or Manny.

Raymond is basically negative trade value. The Canucks are better off to let him walk ( sorry float and skip) away for nothing. He has proven his "worth "over the last 200 games.
