I hope Torres hits Keith next.volsungr wrote:Now the Hawks knows how it feels when the teams leading scorer gets hit. How much will it impact that series?
Tom
As far as the series goes, I don't think it will have too much of an impact. Hossa or no Hossa, this series will go 6 or 7.

Last year Seabrook, this year Hossa. Raffi is a Hawk Head Hunter. He was always was one of my fave players, wish we could of kept him around.

From the Chicago Sun-Times: Blackhawks hit hard by NHL’s joke of a justice system
As the pot continues to call the kettle black, this one thing from the article I can agree with:Smith had flopped around like a boated salmon after Shaw hit him along the boards Saturday night. It was a terrible acting job by the Coyotes’ goalie, who spun around, threw his gloves into the air and likely would have been heard screaming “Stella!” had he been miked. The only people who didn’t see it that way were Phoenix fans and those who think Adam Sandler should give Shakespeare a try.
The unevenness of Shanahan’s rulings makes you wonder what the guy has in his Gatorade bottle.
Doc: "BTW, Donny was right, you're smug."

..our resident gal with some inside knowledge stated that she heard Raffi was "a pig" and that there were issues with his conduct in and around the room.
So you may be on the money with that as well Fred.

Re: Hossa Hit
That was Higgins I believe. Raffi actually looks like he'd be a crude bastard, but he is know for rocking cool halloween costumes...........
Re: Hossa Hit
Sorry, I meant it was Higgins who (I think) wouldn't come back if Raffi was still around......

Re: Hossa Hit
Quenneville's indignation while employing Keith and Shaw is comical.
You could have took his quotes and put them in Vigneault's mouth and they would have made total sense.
I thought Boston was the world wide leader in hypocrisy, Chicago is gaining steam.

Re: Hossa Hit
The Hawks as an organization are funny. They don't believe in concussions until Toews gets a serious one.
They don't like their stars to get hit or be the victim of a cheapshot but have no problem with the Keith elbow or employing guys like Shaw and Carcillo (who they extended recently). I didn't like the Torres hit as under this years rule that is a big no no (last year the Rome hit was deemed clean but late....late got him 4 SCF games). Torres should get a huge suspension given it was not only late like the Rome hit but under the new head shot rules he breaks just about every one of them. Coyotes should be careful as well as a Torres hit arguably woke the Hawks up last year.

Re: Hossa Hit
I just saw the Torres hit on Hossa, and apart from the fact that Torres was moving faster, that hit was no different than Brown's hit on Henrik. Everyone is raging about how Torres left his feet on that hit and jumped for Hossa's head, well you know what? Almost every player leaves their feet when they throw a hit at that speed. It's called physics and it simply the result of both players' momentum coming to a stop and it has to carry somewhere. The path of least resistance is up into open air. Go figure eh. Moreover, at best, Torres leaves the ice by 2 inches, and it is pretty much on contact, not a couple of feet before contact is made. Another thing about that hit that I think actually makes it less illegal than Brown's hit is the fact that Torres throws that hit in an instant, he's rushing back as Chicago breaks out of their zone, he crosses the blueline and his heading towards the puck carrier, Hossa, and just as he angles towards him Hossa pulls up and turns back into Torres as he lets the puck slide over to a teammate who is about 3 feet away. It's not like Torres lined him up from across the ice, when Hossa makes a move like that there is no way that Torres could have predicted it. Brown, on the other hand, lines Henrik up from the hashmarks in his own zone and targets Henrik up near the far blueline where he is scrumming with other LA players for the puck, and Brown is timing it the whole way, you can see the way he watches and adjusts his path and speed. Brown was out to hurt and there can be no question about it. Torres is always out to throw the big heavy hit and hurt a guy.

Re: Hossa Hit
I know it's mean to poke fun at the whole Hossa deal, but he was released and went home that same night from the hospital. I just find the ambulance theatrics with a police escort to boot a little much.
Anyone else?
On another note, another head shot...when is it going to end? Seriously!
