I know, +/- is a much despised stat, and many question its validity. Nevertheless. I was looking at career stats for Vancouver players and clicking the various columns, and when I looked at +/- I was baffled.
It may not be one of the more prestigious categories, but when looking at the all time +/- of Canucks players, it seems obvious that the current crop (in bold) are heads and shoulders above their predecessors:
1) Henrik Sedin +179
2) Daniel Sedin +160
3) Alex Burrows +1154) Dana Murzyn +78
5) Sami Salo +766) Marek Malik +58
7) Christian Ehrhoff +55
8) Clifford Ronning +54
9) Dan Hamhuis +5410 Willie Mitchell +49
11 Ryan Kesler +4712 Brendan Morrison +45
It also confirms my view of Morrison as one of the most underrated Canucks players of all time.
His old linemates Marcus Näslund and Todd Bertuzzi are +2 and +3 respectively...
That's a hell of a difference for players who spent most of their time on the ice together.
