The Canucks have a new ironman!

The previous record, set by BMo, was for 534 consecutive games. But last night Henrik Sedin played his 535th consecutive game for the Vancouver Canucks! Yet another record transferred to the Wonder Twins!

If you wanna get technical, which is makes this streak even more impressive, add on another 66 post-season games and he's played 601 in a row.

How many games has that d-man over in Calgary played in April/May?

Oh, and Luongo's 335th win last night has him tied with Gump Worsley for 17th in All-Time wins; Rogatien Vachon is 16th with 355. His 58th shutout has him in a tie for 16th overall All-Time, behind Turk Broda with 62 and Patrick Roy with 66.

It's also interesting that Luongo's stats this season (2.29 GAA and 0.922 SV%) are very similar to 2006/07 which a lot of people assume was his best statistical season (2.29 GAA and 0.921 SV%).

I know, +/- is a much despised stat, and many question its validity. Nevertheless. I was looking at career stats for Vancouver players and clicking the various columns, and when I looked at +/- I was baffled.
It may not be one of the more prestigious categories, but when looking at the all time +/- of Canucks players, it seems obvious that the current crop (in bold) are heads and shoulders above their predecessors:

Agree completely.. and think how bad Naslunds and Berts +/- would be without BMo.. They were disasters defensively..

Problem I have with the stats you put up is you forgot or ignored the amount of seasons or game each player played..

Marek Malik 58 .. in 2 Seasons.. compared to Dana Murzyn 78 in 8 or Sami's 76.. Malik was probably our all time best defensively..

With the win against Calgary, Luongo racked up his 30th win of the season, which gives him his 7th straight 30 win season (6 straight with the Canucks).

Before Luongo, there were only only 4 Canuck goalies to reach 30 wins, Cloutier did it 3 times in a row 2002-03-04, and Smith, Auld, and McLean registered 30 wins once each.

I believe someone posted on HF that this is the 11th straight season where Lu has finished with a .910+ save %. Pretty impressive considering some of the teams he's been on.

Börje Salming reached 78 points in his best season, Lidström had 80 in 2006/07.

Karlsson needs four points in three games to set a new single season scoring record for Swedish D-man in the NHL.
I think he can do it.

And the kid is only turning 22 this May...!
