Throwing shit on the ice is bush league.

That fan had great seats and the play was in that area. He should have dropped his pants and wiped his ass with the jersey and walked out if he really wanted to send a message. . The only time I have ever even remotely condoned throwing things on the ice is when people were trying to pelt Marty McCsorely with shit after he clubbed Donald Brashear in the melon. Even then you run the risk of hurting an innocent party.

..Apparently the classy roster of the flames had Glencross challenging a Calgary fan last game (the only emotion he showed all game btw which is what the fan was complaining about). The ever classy flames fans also had one of their membership throw a jersey on the ice. Now I realize it's frustrating and all but throwing the jersey on the ice? No wonder the ownership has provided the direction they have. Calgary fandom can't handle poor teams. but of course we all knew that when the crowds were sparse and Paul Allen was sniffing around.

The gesture seemed to have the desired effect.

I said for years that Iginla was the worst $7M investment that any team could make. $5.5M or even $6M could be considered, but you always needed to have a player to create for him. ...

Iginla is an upgraded version of Brett Hull, and he's the precursor to Stamkos. Though Iginla is a better all around player than either of them.

Interesting points Meds. A Flames fan relative of mine told me once that Iginla doesn't get enough credit as a playmaker, and he may very well be right - he did set up the biggest goal in Canada's history after all.

I think $7 million is a fair free agent value, however for a guy who is supposed to be "loyal" it is very high for his age and output. However, I don't think his salary has taken away from the team - if the Flames got good value from their multitude of terrible contracts they'd be okay. But they never, ever, got a worthy linemate/center for Iginla. They should have over-paid for a #1 center and cheaped out on the 2nd and 3rd line, instead of over-paying for a line-up of third-liners.

The said reality is, $7 million might not be a great investment, but its probably the best investment that team has made in the last 20 years.

Good on the fan for doing this. It certainly sends a very strong message to the entire Flame organization.

There was probably more emotion in the player's response to the jersey tossing than in the entire game.

Somewhere you can find the stat that when the Flames are that 7/8 playoff spot or have the chance to get into it with a win the last 3 years that club has only 2 wins or something and a mountain of losses. You can't accidentally be that bad. IT's a team that routinely is unable to compete in big games.
