A Facebook prank completely blew up in my Face today

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

A Facebook prank completely blew up in my Face today

Post by Farhan Lalji »

Thought I'd share a personal story with you guys.

I just had what I thought would be an awesome April Fool's joke COMPLETELY blow up in my face.

I thought that it would be funny if I announced my "engagement" a few days before April 1st......only to then reveal on April 1st that it was an April Fool's joke. It backfired unfortunately. The shit hit the fan VERY quick and my folks got absolutely flooded with calls. Since I'm not even in a "real" relationship of any kind right, the news of my engagement spread like a fucking wildfire.

Family got super pissed at me, and I had to confess my prank.

Long story short - my friends, cousins, and a few uncles think I'm a hero while another sizable portion of my family hates my guts now.

How was your day? :-p

Should have rolled with it until the 1st
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Did they ask you what his names was?
Brick Top: Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible cunt... me.

I was going to but the shit hit the fan VERY quick and VERY hard. It got to a point where some elder family members thought that I had secretly been in a relationship without them knowing about it and so they got way too emotional. The elders in our family are more traditional with culture and so they freaked.

Hopefully, some of these guys look back on this and laugh.

Were they stressing about having to fork over a coupla goats/camels to the parents of the bride? :drink:

Not sure how that all works....

On April 1, why don't you post a pic of your "fiancee" and yourself together?

Something like this...

Image

... except do a better job (life-like eyes, a little wig perhaps).

For added fun learn a little ventriloquism and make a little video clip!

Have her say things like "I love you" and "Put it in my mouth you sexy beast!". :D

Hope this helps...

Lol. I probably would have continued on with it a few years back but I didn't have the heart this time around. I was actually VERY surprised to see/hear about how things blew up so fast. Very comical situation, but I felt terrible for some of the more traditional minded folks.

I had to come clean and end the prank. 107 different people "liking" my fake engagement status within a 90 minute time span reqlly created a massive shit storm of which nothing like I had ever seen, lollll.
