Wow. After what we have learned with the Crosby situation and concussions as a whole, what team of idiots would NOT seek immediate attention to a hard blow to the head of one of its star players? Also, the rules dont say that suspensions should be based on signs of a concussion.

I know that as far a journalism goes, sports journalist tend to be on the lower end of the quality scale, but I'd like to think they aren't actually that stupid.

He said something to the effect of, the vets running the league have a certain outlook on the game, and feel like they understand the game and how the NHL should run better than anyone else, and any sort of outside pressure or criticism is largely ignored. The attitude is, this is how we do business, and if you don't like it, find something else to do with your time.

I watched Serpico last weekend. those comments could just as easily describe the movie.

Funny there is no talk about how much the Hawks looked like pussys.

Imagine, after all the talk about the canucks being pussys for so long ... to have the hawks look like pussys to the pussys.

Wow. I bet Hawks fan don't want to talk about it.

Keith should be gone for the season....

Agreed.

If there is a text book example of what targetting the head is ... that would be it. Apparently it was premeditated too by the sounds of it.

I just hope Daniel is okay. Ultimately this does make the team gel more and no more mr. nice guys with the Hawks.

I bet the Hawks are not looking forward to playing the Canucks next. I bet the Canucks can't wait to play them. It's too bad it won't happen unless they meet in the playoffs.

Dr Recchi has been consulted by Vancouver...

I don't know, is this funny or lame now, I think it's somewhere in between?

If they should meet in the playoffs and the Hawks lost again ... we could trace this back to the hit on Daniel no? The Hawks have to play with that voodoo. :)

Another point I wanted to make was that this wasn't a hit on an average player either. Daniel Sedin is among the very best in the NHL and this should be treated like a hit on such. Also take Daniel's clean track record and play year after year. How much he represents the class of class amongst the players. How much he helps the community. I think the NHL should make an example of Keith for going after Sedin like that.

In the end this might be the kind of event that helps the team and maybe even tweaks the league.

This sort of attack is not okay. Imagine if it were outside of a sporting event? Keith would be in very big trouble. Why should he be able to get away with it in a 'game'? It's just not accepted in regular-joe society.

Amazing when you compare a hit like that to some of the other *minors* in the game ... as if they are all equally deserving. Just pathetic if you ask me.

Oh. One more point. Keith will hereafter be known as the guy who went after a sedin. What a pussy. :)

coco_canuck wrote:Oh and apparently some media types in Chicago think the Canucks are "piling-on" by making Danny see a concussion specialist so soon...yeah, I'm sure that's right, it can't be that the Canucks are simply shutting down one of their stars and making sure he gets the best treatment possible right away...oh, that's right, they're in Chicago, head injuries there are considered better than shoulder injuries...

Of course they are piling on. After all, the organization they cheer for and/or are a part of doesn't believe concussions exist and if they do they aren't serious injuries. Numerous pundits have remarked this year that the Flyers and the Hawks are still stuck back in the 70's and 80's when it comes to concussions. Well more exact is that the Hawks are. The Flyers may have learned something with the Pronger debacle. They let him play for 3 weeks with a concussion and now the guy can barely even function based on comments his wife has made. The talk seems to be that the Hawks haven't learned the same thing despite their captain and best player missing the past 15 games. Hell they still won't even call it a concussion after all this time. They still don't think it was a big deal he was driving and got into an accident. No matter how minor or even if the concussion was caused/worsened or even was the cause of the accident isn't relevant. They need to stop burying their heads in the sand.

Judging by their view on concussions, which you summed up nicely, and their roster decisions the past few years, I don't think it's a stretch to say Hawks management puts ostriches to shame.

I remarked on it on another board to be sure. The Hawks turned tail and ran the last half of the game and especially when Kassian was around. They also heard all sorts of steps in the third period when the canucks were forechecking. Is it surprising? Of course not. As Kassian makes LaPierre and other canucks grow 6 inches so did Fugly to the Hawks.

The biggest blame is at the top as you indicate Lister but the on ice refs can suck my left nut.

They fucking know whats right and wrong and Dan O'Halloran is a veteran official.

That call on Keith is a fucking joke, two minutes for elbowing.

ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT!

Speculative for sure but like I posted earlier if Kassian hits Keith or Kane like that no way it is 2 for elbowing. 5 and a game and a face to fucking face hearing.

Romes hit on Horton was at least a hockey play.

Keiths elbow was premeditated and predatory.

The NHL is a ridiculous fucking joke.

This is an issue of leadership. Pure and simple.

People behave the way they do because their behavior is what is expected by whoever their boss is.

So, as shit flows downhill, Bettman is the issue.

Unfortunately, even though Bettman is ruining the game for the fans, he keeps making a lot of money for the owners which essentially gives him a free pass until he doesn't want the job anymore.

I'm lovin' the Shut Down Hockey the last two games, only 3 goals against.

Henrik Sedin, two goals in his last 31 games is it? Shit, he's had the switch turned off for almost half a season. Two bad we don't have more 'skilled' centers with a great shot to fill in for Hank while Hank has the Switch Flipped Off.

I propose we trade RoyalDude for an angry, blustering, menopausal housewife. A clear steal for us.

Why don't we just bury him? in the minors??

A slight adjustmentment.

C'mon Widow, that's clearly nothing like you.

Surely you're well past menopausal by now?
