Yes think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are even stupider! (credit Carlin)

Pretty easy for one to man-nipple-ate (credit Spidey) the masses when one thinks about it. :hmmm:

Carlin was the best, and that's who I was thinking about when I penned that comment.

I wanna know which shitheads said yes the twins are declining and those who are on the fence, and aren't sure yet so I can refresh my mental "List." Topper's list doesn't apply as well to these parts unfortunately.

Let's hope the two so far were just sarcastically voting yes! :look:

Short summer to train

Lesser motivation to do well in the regular season

Less motivated team to play with

Division title locked up really early

Regression in officiating
Less powerplay opportunities

Stronger, more defensive conference

Kesler was out early, is not the same Kesler as last year due to off season inability to train and Kesler was taking on defensive assignments to protect Hodgson, rather than drawing defensive matchups away from the Sedins.

I think the bolded is the most important factor in their current woes.

Less ice to skate in, more interference etc, less power plays rather than a regresion in their skills and abilities.

They were near the top of the league in scoring before their recent slump.

Ah yes, sarcasm. I think a few may have missed the sarcasm in my initial post as well.

When you think about it maybe the change in the clutching and grabbing was the start of their dominant era ?

Superstars do not go on 7-8 game slumps, so by virtue of their recent struggles, we simply cannot call them superstars.

They've clearly lost an edge and are easily intimidated...how else do you explain their recent struggles?

It's either intimidation/pussification or they're skills have drastically diminished.

Since it's only one, or both of those, I'd say they and the Canucks are fucked.

In response to this thread though, here is my thought:

I think the twins are going to be very good hockey players for a number of years yet. However - I can see their days of being dominant 1st line superstars (as they were last year and the year before) coming to an end fairly soon (if it hasn't already).

Perhaps the Sedins' will become PPG players from here on out, or 0.9 PPG players for the next 3-5 years.

If you look at the careers of most superstar players they have about 5-7 "superstarish" years before slightly declining into "very good" category. Naslund seemed to follow a similar path, but his decline was a lot more drastic than other superstars. I don't think the same will happen to the twins, but I also have my doubts about either one of them getting over 100 points again.

First off.. I don't think the Sedin's skills have depreciated .. But rather that the rest of the League, not just the conference, has learned from last years playoffs how to defend better against their cycle game.. In the playoffs they were relatively ineffective against the Preds tight checking and against Chicago's Bolland line . The only decline I have seen is in their defensive play which was very obvious against the Bruins..

That said I am sure that come playoff time we are in better shape than last year. A far better 4th line and a lot more strength and skill on lines 2 and 3 plus a few more options for line 1 which should take some of the heat off the Sedins and give them a bit more room to play their game..I look at the Canucks this year as having 2 first lines.. Kesler line for power .. Sedin line for finesse ..

We already, have got the Presidents Cup. Let St. Louis blow their load to get it...and then fall short in the playoffs. These games are "practice" games to the Nucks. They are fine tuning. Who knows they will probably lose tonight against CBJ, but once Detroit (who are also sucking right now) jumps them...they will wake up then..

This team has always been like this..when it doesn't matter..they play like shit.

My two cents.

A very interesting point and a great addition to the overall discussion regarding the Sedins current state of play.
