Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian
Gotta keep the suits happy. You know they spend most of the game on their cell phones and can't be expected to get excited by slick plays or nice passing. They need to look up and see a 2-1 final for the good guys. Also, excessive cheering or excitement tends to shut down conference calls with Hong Kong...RoyalDude wrote:

I look forward to the great display of fine checking by Pahlsson and zero creativity and will not miss the creative, offensive skill work of Cody Hodgson and that great shot of his and vision for setting teamates up with glorious chances.
Re: Canucks get Zack Kassian
When the deal was done I said I did not like it, maybe in the off season but not now. Kassian was not going to bring anything to the team this season to help them win the SC. I said that CH scoring was more important as it takes pressue of the top 2 lines and I was told secondary scoring was a luxury. Thinking Kassian may help in 2 - 3 years is bad planning, this team needs to win now and go for it. They have a short window of opportunity and just look no further that SJ on how easily a team can fall.
I am not in the locker room so I don't know the truth about what CH and/or his agent really asked for or how they acted with MG but somehow I feel AV had something to do with this deal happening at the time it did. One problem this team has (and still does) are the tough guys who can hit hard and fight when needed, last season with Glass and who ever else was on the 4th line they never did anything to help the team win against Boston.
This year if the Nucks come up against a team like Bos I do not see Kassian at 21 being the answer but CH may chip in a few goals that would help. I will stand by my belief that the deal was bad for this team at the time it was made.

I feel bad for Zack Kassian cause the local media and fans here in Canuckland have pumped this 21 year old kid to be the guy that will take care of the Staubitz and Lucic of the NHL and create offense like Cam Neely. Terrible to put this kind of pressure on the kid to be that guy. I watched that fight last night peeking through my fingers. Glad I did.

I like Zack Kassian, but you don't trade a young skilled centre who was helping pick up the slack in creating offense, for a project parked down on the 4th line. I thought we were suppose to be trying to win the cup now?
This trade has done diddly squat to stop teams from picking on the Sedins. Even if Gillis had picked up Ott, Moen and Staubitz it still would do fuck all to stop teams from taking liberty on the Sedins. The Sedins are effective when the offense is spead out, now it's not. All the CoHo trade did was make it easier for teams to shut down our skill cause we now have less of it. I just don't get the trade. We now have no 3rd line but 3 Shut Down lines like Botch said and is all excited about.

CoHo was the answer, remember the game in Boston this year, that beauty of a goal he scored on Thomas. People seem to forget that the real reason we lost to the Bruins was that 3/4's of the team had some sort of injury going on, we were a lame duck by the time we got to the finals. We all saw this season what a healthy Vancouver Canuck team can do against the Bruins.Reefer2 wrote: This year if the Nucks come up against a team like Bos I do not see Kassian at 21 being the answer but CH may chip in a few goals that would help.

Funny thing is though, the Sabres seem to be winning since the trade and we just kinda sucking. Well, we've been kinda sucking for awhile cause our offense has completely dried up. We can't seem to take teams to OT like we did there for awhile, we just seem to be digressing with each game, especially offensively which makes all the sense more to trade away a a skilled playmaking centre with a great shot who added secondary scoring from the 3rd line and replace him with the great shut downess of Sami Pahlsson.Arachnid wrote:Blob Mckenzie wrote:Yeah Cody is the answer all right. Dude, Sabres haven't won all there games since the trade, and CoHo has been -3 and zero points in the last 3 games...for a 2nd line centre? Don't compare Zugly with CoHo compare him to Kesler who has been great in the past couple of games...RoyalDude wrote:Funny thing is though, the Sabres seem to be winning since the trade and we just kinda sucking.Arachnid wrote:-1 again last night Kickassian was awesome last night and his +/- was OK tooRoyalDude wrote:

At least Kassian delivered 3 thunderous hits... and went toe to toe with Staubitz.
Cody with ZERO points and minus 4 in 6 games with Buffalo since the trade despite gobs of icetime!
BTW which are these 3 shutdown lines to which you refer?

Cody...SHUTDOWN center. 0 pts in 7 games for the Sabres (0 in 9 overall, 1 in 13).
The Sabres broadcast said it best yesterday when they said with the Vanek injury Hodgson is going to get a great chance but if he can't produce he is going to be moved down the lineup in a hurry.
