Awesome in deed! Great game winning goal there.

Yo Tant, did you just wake up today from some life long comatose and became a hockey fan? Obviously not, so you know along with every other NHL stat junkie that Old Man Pahlsson ain't no goal scoring, assist making, point producing power house.
Nor was Cody the last 15-20 games he was a canuck and in fact every winger had their worst games on his wing. Hodgson likely has a bright future, however, given his line was consistently getting outplayed by the opposition he wouldn't be getting the chance to even contribute that offense (which had dried up). Hence the reason he was moved.

...back in the day a bud of mine made music tape for me. It had a bunch of underground head banging punkish rock on it.
Great shit but stuff you'd really have to research hard to find today. CITR out at UBC used to play tunes like this after midnight.
The title of that tape was...Music to Bang Your Head Against the Wall By.
I am often reminded of this title when people continue to feed Dudes efforts to spin discontent amongst the ranks of Canuck fans.
Raymond and Booth and Kesler oh my
Raymond and Booth and Hodgson oh my

If you were in Winnipeg you would have heard things beyond stupid on the post game show. I mean it was Calgary puck bad.
"That play should have been blown dead once it hit the officials skate" on Kesler's goal.
"Why was the ref right against the boards?"
"How come he didn't jump over the puck?"
It was a brutal stretch of play and that is what you get when you start a 4th liner on the PP to open it with Antropov. There were two Canucks on the fore check and Kesler was deep making the puck being coughed up but it's the refs fault?
The sedins have played the boards for years and manage to cycle around officials all the time it is such a BS excuse.

...still the Jets have some pretty good players.
Kane looks great wheeling down the wing with speed and has a nice, hard, quick, accurate shot.
The goalie is certianly more than credible and Noel has them playing hard.
I hope they make the post season.

Best effort as a team in several games. Had they lost this one I would still have been happy with the effort.
Shoot, shoot, shoot!! Sooner or later they have to start going in. Ugly doesn't count any less on the scoreboard!
If I'm Mason Raymond I'd be going to Juice and saying don't ever make that pass again. Suicide!!
Back side winger has to get to the boards on the ring around in the D zone. They seem to be collapsing too much to the middle.

If Rome played defensively like Edler did last night, he would be under criticism today. But Edler always gets a pass.
Then I would come on and mention Edler actually had a plus 2 even strength scoring differential (8-6).
Also, Kesler may have been a monster, but was a minus 2 (5-7) in even strength differential.

If Rome played offensively like Edler does ever, he'd probably get his share of free passes too. But he is just not that player..

Speaking of Dmen, how did the Tanev-MAG pairing look last night?
(I missed the game)

So Rome and Edler get paid $750,000 for their equal defensive work and Edler gets a $2.5 m bonus for his offensive work?
Sounds about right.

Not one shot against was recorded when Gragnani was on the ice (13 minutes) and he was 4-0 scoring chance differential.
Tanev was 3-1 in 14 minutes.
They looked poised together, but were split up in the 3rd with Tanev going with Edler and Salo with Gragnani.

That's not exactly accurate given it ignores their respective ages, career trajectories, untapped potential and bargaining positions when they signed their respective deals.
It's not even an accurate description of my view of these two players - we're talking about why Edler escapes criticism from the media and public, and we can probably both agree that however the Canucks organization (or you, or I) evaluate a players value in terms of offensive and defensive contributions, in the court of public opinion their goal and point totals are a big factor.
(Although strictly for the sake of argument, I bet you'd find a lot of NHL GMs out there happy to pay a player an extra $2.5m every year if it meant they quadrupled their offensive production..)

I would too.
My point is...
If we accept Edler's defensive play, then we should accept Rome's defensive play as well, as they are essentially equal this year.
If Rome's defense sucks, then Edler's sucks as well.
If Edler gets a pass because he's got offensive numbers, then Rome should get a pass because he's a cheap 6/7th. defenseman.
