FUN FACT:

Roberto Luongo was one of only 7 goaltenders in NHL history to be named captain

.... and 1st since Bill Durnan of the Montreal Canadiens in 1947–48!

Amongst defensemen who have played 50+ games this season...

there are 4 Vancouver Canucks in the top 38 in the PPG category.

Harrison Mooney? @HarrisonMooney
"If WPG & FLA make playoffs, 30 teams will have made playoffs since lockout. Maple leaves will not be one of them.”

There is currently an 89% chance the Leaves will NOT make the playoffs this year:

They’re fun and they’re facts = FUN FACTS! :D

That's quite an achievement in a 30 team league... :)

The Canucks have had two Swedish players named Sammy wear the #26 this calendar year. Both being the only two on the club to have Stanley Cup rings.

Fun.

Good one Eddy.

Most folks may know that big Gino Odjick wore number 66 in his NHL debut versus the Blackhawks.

Perhaps they do not realize that the change to 29 was initiated by the NHL who contacted the Canucks after the game and requested that 66 not be used.
DeLevering since 1999.

Nah. It'd be more fun if all the players on the team had Stanley Cup rings.
We'll have to see what we can do about that..... :look:

Hmmm..... wonder if Wilf Paiment switched to #27 with Quebec for the same reason.

I was at that game!! A total beauty - people lost their shit over Gino!!

Ah, winter nights. :drink:

The fun fact: Anton Rödin was born on the same day - Nov 21, 1990 - that Gino wore no 66 and pasted Grimson in the FACE!!!

[where's the bearded wheelchaired 'donlever' smiley when I need it?]

Another interesting aside: it was later that season, March 5, 1991, that the Nucks made one of the most important transactions in franchise history with our opponents from last night:

To VAN: Cliff Ronning, Sergio Momesso, Geoff Courtnall, Robert Dirk, 5th round draft pick
To STL: Garth Butcher and Dan Quinn

The arrival of Gino, this crazy trade - you could really feel the upswing happening in Canuckland that season...

It's funny AND it's fun!! :D

Fun fact:

On February 27 2012 the Buffalo Sabres became the first NHL team to ever have 3 German-born players on its roster

.... Jochen Hecht and ex-Canucks Ehrhoff & Sulzer! :D

Yeah Gino was pissed initially but says it's all bridge under the water now. ;)

The story goes Gino originally wanted #666 but didn't know how to spell it! :D

Fun, unprovable fact:

From my first game in 1974/75 (2-2 v. Flyers) - 1985ish, I went to about 40 games and the Canucks never lost.
